I’m about 70 hours in. I’ve been using the Lodge for all my crafting needs, mainly because of the infinite storage. But I’m ready to see what the game offers in building mode. Which is your favorite?

My son put on Iron Lung, I went in blind. It has a direct to video look, a terrible audio mix, amateurish acting from the lead, meandering montages, and overstays its welcome by maybe 30 minutes.
BUT the idea is fucking rad. And the script does a decent job of burying the leads enough to only make sense when it’s complete.
A cosmic being sees a pinhole of reality, and with godlike power it manifests that as the universe entire. The people we see aren’t the only humans left after the “rapture,” they’re just the only humans the god saw.
The COI sends seven subs to survey this anomalous power, which absorbs and uses their bodies and spirits to form a defense against further disruption. This form is the physical entity, the angler/eel we see. It also represents the god’s understanding that perhaps it goofed, as it offers Simon passage through the light, to live.
This passage seems to be the way back through the pinhole, to the original universe. It’s unclear what prerequisites the god desires to approve the worthiness of candidates, but if the COI can recover the black box from SM-08, they might figure it out and save their sliver of humanity.
Maybe I’m way off, or maybe this is all obvious. It’s hard to say how much of it is ambiguous vs flawed. A rare film, imo, where thinking about it is better than watching it.

The moral ambiguity of the choose your own adventure style storytelling in PL is top tier. Did my first playthrough siding with So Mi all the way, with her on the moon as my canon. Maybe she’s better, maybe she’s worse. The message and trinkets she leaves at her special spot gives me hope she’s better.
This play, I’m trying to be team Reed. And up to this point, it was working. There are dialogue choices that make Songbird verrry sus, and it’s obvious V is having serious doubts about their alliance. There’s also dialogue that makes Reed significantly more sympathetic. But then, this. I pushed him just a bit. I’ve done all the endings though save scumming. I KNOW that if I turn Songbird over to Reed, he’ll give her back to Myers. Maybe he believes what he says here at this moment in time, maybe not. But he absolutely breaks his word. I’ll follow through on this team Reed playthrough, but I am now 100% team Songbird for my canon.
I’m at full health. It’s just me and the boss in the room. I hit my Sandy, kill her with the Hypercritical, and then as I’m moving away, I’m hit with some blue lightning and it kills me. This has happened several times in different fights, most notably with Smasher. I have no idea what’s happening. In this case, there are no enemies around. Is it some kind of on-death grenade drop from the boss? Is it self-damage? Is it something triggered by my Sandy? Like maybe damage against me accumulates during Sandy, then hits all at once when I exit slo-mo? It’s driving me nuts, guys. Like this one thing is the only thing that EVER kills me, and it’s done it over and over dozens of times across several fights. Help please!
EDIT: thanks to Frenetic_Platypus, I’m pretty sure this is Ticking Time Bomb triggering an environmental trap/explosive. Still weird though, in any other scenario with full health I would survive a red canister explosion. But I’ve turned off the perk and will see if it ever happens again. Thanks chooms!
I haven’t watched Innocence since it first came out, and I can’t remember if it’s fantastic or just decent. Gonna watch it again regardless. Only way I can find it right now is $30ish on bluray. Apparently there is a 4k release, too, but I haven’t found any definitive info on region or languages and it seems to average around $100. Does this sound right? Can someone fill in the gaps, please, or should I just settle for the bluray?
Rewatched tonight. 7th or 8th viewing. And each time, the near-pretentious philosophy frustrates me more. I love the film. The animation, the design, the action, the music, the gore, the crunchy sound, all top tier. But… is it really as confusing as it thinks it is? Is it necessary for Motoko to be so obtuse? Walk like a duck, talk like a duck, you’re a duck. The questions of consciousness, AI, memory, data, flesh, silicon… interesting themes, but they are only thought provoking if you disregard the simplest answer. Do you think you have a soul? Then yeah, you have a soul. Maybe stop doubting it and just enjoy your swim. Science fiction has this hard on for defining, classifying, and separating forms of intelligence, born of, imo, a human need to feel insular and special. Batou sums it up in one word: Bullshit. In the end, Motoko does agree with him of course. She accepts Puppet Master as a living equal. But damn the film milks the doubt and rushes the epiphany.
Looking for book recommendations, please. I’ve read the usual suspects, the top ten, the classics. Honestly, there are some real gems but none of them have scratched the itch like CP2077 and Deus Ex do. Most CP books, even Gibson and Stephenson, seem more CP adjacent, too vague on tech details, too vague on societal schisms, too clean, devoid of big name corps, etc. Is there a book out there that really hits the high tech/low life vibe I’m looking for? Trash is welcome. I’m not looking for high concept, idea a sentence literature. I wanna read about a badass protag who scopes gangers with preem optics and crushes skulls with a name brand metal arm. Thanks.

Sorry to be that guy. I’ve been waiting for this announcement for a while. I wouldn’t say this is a dealbreaker, but it looks very obvious to me and seems unnecessary. I suppose I’ll wait til release and see how it looks before I buy.
