Jumping from SDE2 to Senior SDE. Feeling imposter syndrome. Need advice
Currently an SDE2 at a non-FAANG company and recently accepted a Senior SDE role at another non-FAANG company. Honestly feeling a bit of imposter syndrome because in my head “Senior” always sounded like someone with 10+ years experience architecting everything from scratch.
At my current role, I’ve done a good amount of code reviews, production support, debugging across services, helped onboard/mentor newer SDE1s, and guided them through tickets and workflows, but I never directly managed people. The new role is also fully remote, so I’m wondering how to build strong technical trust and visibility without being physically around the team.
Would love advice from people who made a similar jump. What actually changes from SDE2 -> Senior in practice? What mindset shifts helped you most?
