5 things that helped me get more views on Instagram

For a while I blamed low views on the algorithm, posting times and hashtags. Some of those things matter, but most of my posts were simply too slow or gave people no reason to interact.

These are the changes that helped me most:

  1. No wasting the first few seconds

I used to start Reels with an introduction or spend too long setting up the topic.

Now I open with the main problem, result or strongest part of the video. I also add text on screen immediately because a lot of people scroll without sound.

The first frame of a carousel matters for the same reason. It needs to make someone curious enough to swipe.

  1. I started making content people might save or send

Saves and shares usually tell you more than likes, for example tutorials, useful lists, specific recommendations and relatable posts tend to travel further because people send them to friends or keep them for later.

Before posting, I try to ask whether someone would have any reason to come back to the content.

  1. I became more consistent

Posting a lot for three days and then disappearing for two weeks cannot work

I get better results when I prepare a few posts together and spread them throughout the week. It also makes content creation much less stressful because I’m not trying to invent something new every morning.

  1. I made captions more searchable

I used to write vague captions that added nothing to the post.

Now the first line clearly explains the topic using words someone could realistically search on Instagram, the hashtags are useless

  1. I started collaborating more

Collab posts have been one of the easiest ways to reach people outside my current followers.

It can be another creator, a local business or a brand that genuinely appears in the content. Both accounts share the same post, so it gets distributed to both audiences.

I also try to create posts people naturally want to DM to someone, because private shares seem to help distribution a lot.

None of these changes made every post perform well, but they made my results much more consistent.

I found a more detailed breakdown of how Reels, Stories and feed posts are distributed in this guide to getting more Instagram views: https://sideshift.app/blog/get-more-views-on-instagram

Aren't survivors getting to easy to play and hunters harder to play? (LONG POST)

I wanna start this by stating that I'm a survivor main. I have been high tier for quite a while now (champion / titan for the past seasons). I only play hunter in qm and nowhere else.

1. Effort needed

The difference in effort between the two factions is insane. Survivors only need basic teamwork to secure a win. Half the time I'm watching a movie while playing survivor (kiting & rescuing), and it barely affects my performance.

Hunters, on the other hand, constantly have to track shaking ciphers, cut off kiting paths, choose where to chair, make split-second decisions. Even after doing all of that, one mistake can throw the entire match.

Meanwhile, survivors have countless ways to recover from mistakes: Well Earned, Emergency Reserves, Sticker, Attachment Effect, minimal decoding debuffs, late-game decoding acceleration, and much more. My point is, hunters don't get that same room for error.

2. Resources

Moving on, survivors have so much resources inside the game. They have an insurmountable amount of spammable pallets & infinite loop windows, tram, rollercoaster, horse, swing, and at LEAST 2 overpowered kiting areas (bldg & shack + others). I'm fine with those resources, but Netease needs to realize that survivors have all of those COMBINED with newer & older survivors' abilities getting OVERTUNED.

3. Skill ceiling

What's worse is that survivors who are new + getting buffed are made to be insanely easy to play. No one can tell me that mime artist, archer, matador, etc take skill to play. I'm currently maining mime artist and I play with half of my brain asleep like a seal.

Hunters on the other hand? Yes, Dentist, cueist, Ivy, goatman, QB, sangria are powerful hunters. However, you need actual skill for them to be good. Other hunters also need skill but they aren't as rewarding to play because they're at most tie hunters.

Amanda, Matador, Mime are literally getting away with having no nerfs. Meanwhile, the skin essences of Dentist, cueist, QB haven't even finished and they were already nerfed heavily.

  • Sangria's entire kit is literally ping dependent. There is literally no survivor or hunter that is ping dependent as much as sangria is. I'd even argue that cueist is ping dependent because his only thing is his speed boost. Lagging cancels out that speed boost (and sometimes makes you even slower).

  • Early game Cueist is literally as weak as a no presence smiley. And what do they do? nerf his mid-late game.

  • The only reason why dentist was so OP when he was released was because his skill does 1.5 dmg w/ detention which means he can down early to disrupt gate decoding. End game is so fast that after you down the survivor with detention, gate is most likely opened.

  • End game is so fast that even ivy, the hunter who excels at it the most, is STRUGGLING at end game pressure.

Meanwhile, on the survivor side:

  • Mime can create a new looping area just by vaulting. And those buggy flying spots that can fly anyone 100x farther? Yeah, she doesn't need a nerf.

  • Matador has another version of flywheel that can slow hunters by a lot AND can save survivors. If somehow the skill fails, they still have a painter-like skill to back him up. So many resources to get back up from a mistake. Yup! Don't give him a nerf

  • Lanternist can increase the decoding speed while she kites the hunter. Pallet spamming with her is also very rewarding. Wowie! how balanced. No need for a REAL nerf.

  • Priestess can literally spam her portals which help her transition if she ever feels unsafe in the kiting area. Definitely balanced.

  • Meteor can do everything (heal, transition, stun). A survivor that can help the team no matter the situation. Oh that's fair.

  • Psychologist & patient mains so bad that they got buffs. Psychologist is already a 3 hit surv and yet she got a free transition skill. Patient mains don't know how his skill works so netease made sure it couldn't get interrupted.

    • But hey, a 0.001s stun can cancel out cueist's ball (when he's in the animation). Yes, that's definitely fair to patient & cueist mains.
  • First Officer & Gravekeeper being so overtuned I don't even know where to start with them.

>!Hot take: Archer is the same skill ceiling as matador which is basically no skill. Archer literally autoaims at the hunter after you hold her skill for a bit.!<

  1. Meta difference

The worst thing about this, is that you don't have to play a meta survivor to win. You just need a little bit of teamwork to win. Meanwhile, if hunters want to win, they need to play a meta hunter. Even then, a little teamwork destroys that hunter.

This is the result of cipher rush. ~3 minutes for FOUR ciphers. Does that not sound insane? No one can tell me that that is balanced.
