ELI5 how many batteries does it take to power a human for an hour

Veritasium's new short says it takes 30 AA batteries to power a human for one hour. But a small power bank has the same amount of energy. How can something that fits in my hand hold the same energy as 30 batteries?

What's the most unhinged video request you've gotten from a client

Client last week asked for a ""cinematic brand film"" for their dog grooming business. Budget: $150. Timeline: 2 days. References: a Nike commercial and a Christopher Nolan trailer.

I actually pulled it off with capcut video studio and seedance 2.0 and the client thinks I hired a crew.

Please tell me I'm not alone.

small purchases that paid for themselves this year

Tracking stuff I bought this year that actually saved money over time. Not big investments, just small upgrades that eliminated recurring costs or waste.

A reusable water bottle stopped me from buying $3 bottles at gas stations. A rice cooker cut my takeout spending because I actually cook at home now. A sewing kit fixed 3 things I would've thrown out. A good power strip with surge protection replaced 2 cheap ones that died.

None of these are exciting. All of them have paid for themselves already.

Got my cable situation under control this weekend

Spent sunday morning going full psycho on cable management. Bought a cable tray off amazon, a bag of velcro ties, and spent 3 hours on my hands and knees under the desk. I now have exactly two visible cables on my entire desk surface. One from the dock to the laptop and one for my desk lamp.

The trick was replacing my charger, hdmi adapter, usb hub, and ethernet dongle with one dock. 4 cables turned into 1. My wife said the desk looks like a different room.

Hey everyone,

With the recent shifts in domestic regulations and the influx of questionable international imports, I thought it was time to drop a guide on what to look for when sourcing peptides within Australia right now.

Whether you’re looking at BPC-157 for recovery or GLP-1s for metabolic health, the "Aussie Tax" is real, but the risks of bunk gear are even more real. Here is what you should be checking before you hit 'buy':

Third-Party Testing: If they don't have a recent (within 3–6 months) COA (Certificate of Analysis) from a reputable lab, keep walking.

Domestic Shipping: Customs is tighter than ever in 2026. Sourcing domestically isn't just about speed; it's about ensuring your order actually clears your front door without a "seizure letter" from Border Force.

Storage & Reconstitution: Look for vendors who understand cold-chain logistics if they’re shipping pre-mixed, though lyophilized (powder) remains the gold standard for stability.

I’ve spent the last few months vetting local options because I was tired of waiting 4 weeks for overseas packs that never arrived.

Full transparency: I’ve recently been using the team over at Optic Labs Au. Honestly, they are one of the few domestic outfits actually prioritizing 99%+ purity strings and consistent batch testing. If you're tired of the guessing game with local "underground" sources, they’re worth a look for the peace of mind alone.

Curious to hear what everyone else’s experience has been

I drive 8-10 hour shifts. Uber, Google Maps, and Spotify running the whole time absolutely destroys my battery. My car charger puts out maybe 10W so it barely keeps up when the screen is on and all three apps are running.

By hour 6 I'm losing battery faster than I'm gaining it. Twice now my phone has died mid-ride and I had to pull over and wait for it to boot back up. The passenger was not thrilled. I've thought about getting a better car charger but I also need something for when I'm parked between rides eating lunch or whatever. Anyone figured this out?
