Is it just me, or is expecting a Grab driver to carry all your heavy bags getting a bit out of hand? Let's discuss.

Hey everyone,

I came across an Instagram story recently that really made me think about the current state of service culture and customer entitlement in Malaysia.

In the screenshot, a local business owner/influencer of TUG Gelato, Yong Xin Ying (@h.aileyxy) publicly blasts a Grab driver at KLIA2 because he asked her to load her own 3 bags into the car. When she told him "that’s his job" and complained about paying RM100, the driver simply offered to cancel the ride if she wasn't happy with that. She then took to live chat, claiming the driver was "verbally abusive" just for refusing to carry the bags, and demanded Grab take action.

As far as I know, Grab drivers are paid to transport you safely from Point A to Point B. Loading heavy luggage is a kind gesture/courtesy, not a mandatory requirement under their job scope—especially considering many drivers might have physical limitations, back pain, or simply want to avoid damaging a passenger's property.
It feels incredibly unfair to threaten a grab worker's livelihood and label them "abusive" on live chat just because they didn't offer a 5-star concierge hotel service for a standard ride fare. If someone wants premium white-glove service, they should probably book a premium private limousine service instead of treating a standard driver like a personal porter.

What are your thoughts on this? Should passengers expect drivers to do the heavy lifting, or is this a clear case of main character syndrome?

Lets discuss.

Shiftsmart

I’m going to say the part nobody wants to admit: some Circle K employees are actively making Shiftsmart shifts harder before we even arrive.
I’ve seen stores hide or “lose” the printer, claim they don’t know where supplies are, refuse to explain where basic items are located, say the app/task isn’t their problem, or act like we’re bothering them just by showing up for a shift Circle K scheduled. Then when the work doesn’t get done perfectly, they turn around and say, “See? Shiftsmart workers don’t know what they’re doing.”
That is not a fair system.
If a worker is assigned food prep, bin prep, cooler, or any store task, we need access to the tools required to do the job. If the label printer is missing, the food isn’t available, the manager won’t confirm what needs to be done, or employees intentionally create confusion, then that’s not a “bad Shiftsmart worker.” That’s a setup.
And before someone says “then just ask,” a lot of us do ask. We ask where the printer is. We ask what needs to be prepped. We ask where the products are. We ask what the store wants done. Some workers get ignored, talked down to, turned away, or treated like we’re already guilty before we even start.
Are there bad Shiftsmart workers? Absolutely. Report them. Are there people who steal, make messes, or don’t care? Sure. But acting like every failed shift is because of the contractor while ignoring store-level sabotage, missing equipment, bad communication, and hostile employees is dishonest.
Circle K and Shiftsmart created this system. Store employees and contractors are being thrown into the same mess with no real coordination, and then everyone blames the lowest-paid person standing there trying to figure it out.
If stores want the work done right, stop hiding the tools, stop withholding basic information, stop treating every contractor like a problem, and actually let people do the job they were assigned to do.

DO NOT SUPPORT GrubHub. It needs to shut down. The way they operate since new ownership is the most horrendous experience in my 8+ years of gig work.

DO NOT support this app. They changed something where false positive violations are being handed out like candy and there is NO method for disputing the violation, unlike Doordash and Ubereats, which means once you have the violation it's there for 3 months, which is a long time if you're doing a high volume of orders. The only way to avoid violations is just to do very few orders to decrease your chances. It's like they intentionally WANT to reduce volume and drivers. You can email them and they never respond, I emailed them about app glitches and suggestions and never heard back. To cutdown on cost they likely cut down their customer support to one or a couple people, relying on AI in many cases which explains the removal of a violation dispute process.

There is ZERO reason to use GrubHub over Doordash or Ubereats from either a customer, driver or restaurant perspective. I used to favor them years ago when DD and UE had their misgivings but GH made many terrible app updates. When you're driving, the way the app minimizes the order after being offered is the worst, how they have the SOS button right next to it and how it fails to send out status reminders. Again, it's like they WANT the company to fail.

I only got 10% of my offers from GH, the other 90% from DD and UE, now I will uninstall to get 0 from GH and that is a huge relief. This company needs to shutdown. Once they do shutdown then those 10% of orders will just be put through Doordash and Ubereats instead. I realize there are some markets where GH is still primary but those are probably few and will shift over to DD and UE too.

DO NOT support this app, instead of this slow death nonsense, they need to go away NOW. I recommend leaving a 1 star review on the app store for GH Driver and if you're a customer leaving one for the customer app too. The restaurant app is already at 3.5 which tells you everything you need to know.

Here are just a couple playstore reviews:

"Changed the app so that they can give you a violation for not putting up with terrible and low pay orders, no longer allowing you to provide a reason for the decline w/o punishment. Will make me wait 3 hours for a 2 dollar 5 mi. order then punish you for not taking it as if that makes any sense, even on block and trouble-shooting. Was my preferred app for delivery, now slowly becoming so bad im considering quitting the job I love over it. Fix your garbage, before you cant find workers."

"bruh violations for not accepting every order regardless if its only $2.50 violations for picking up another driver's order after they unassigned it making it already late.... this is turning into Uber eats by the day"

Here are a few threads regarding violations and just how terrible the service has gotten in just the last 2 weeks.

https://www.reddit.com/r/grubhubdrivers/comments/1ub6s2a/how_did_they_break_gh/

This comment by /u/SolidEcstatic9435 summarizes the behind the scenes very well:

"I think it is a combination of things. Company has lots of holdings. It purchased GH at a deep discount to support their main priority the Wonder Food Halls. I also think they have dropped the ball on attracting new customers. They acquired GH approximately 2yrs ago and relied on their relationship with Amazon which was never promoted properly. New customers coming into their market will remember Door Dash before GH. I don’t know how their relationship is with merchants, but I do know they have lost many in my area and based on how they treat their drivers I would bet it isn’t good. They haven’t done one thing for drivers other than chopping pay and adding more things like 2 digit codes and more pictures and crazy violations and rating stats. Add all that to them farming out shop orders to instacart shows they care only about themselves. I have seen very little advertising until recently mostly on Facebook and You Tube. I think they are trying to set this up to dump. It would be awesome if someone who wants to grow GH purchased them. I have done 10k GH deliveries and it is getting harder and harder."

Gig work/ Driving/Delivery Apps

Can anyone shed some light on how you get immediately approved to drive for any of these apps? I seriously think all they want is data collection. I have submitted my information to everything from insta cart way back when it began to Door Dash, Task Rabbit, Spark… and I always get the same response. “There are no available routes, or tasks in your area.”

I live in Philly the 2nd largest city on the east coast?!?! There’s no way there’s nothing available. I always feel so angry afterwards that I’ve given away all of my information. 😠

Any suggestions or thoughts on why I might be getting these types of messages?

I just tried signing up for Amazon Flex and got the same response.

Drivers, what days and time slots actually pay off for you? been tracking mine and the results surprised me

curious what everyone swears by. set days, lunch vs dinner, late nights, weekends? everyone’s got a theory.

I actually built a little tool to track my own sessions and work out my real hourly rate per slot, and honestly some times I thought were solid turned out to be a waste once fuel and tax came out. others surprised me the other way.

so keen to hear yours, drop your best days/times below and if anyone wants to check their own real numbers per slot I’m happy to share the tool, just comment or dm me. it’s free, still in test, just after honest feedback.

Delhivery Worst Experience

I've been using Shiprocket for my business for several months, and I recently had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a courier partner.

I chose Delhivery for one of my shipments. The pickup was scheduled for the next day, so I packed the order and waited. No one showed up, and I didn't receive any call. A little later, I checked the tracking and was shocked to see that the pickup had been marked as "Seller refused to hand over the shipment."

That was completely false. Nobody had even come to my location.

After raising a complaint with Shiprocket, the pickup executive, Ahad, finally called me. Instead of asking when he could collect the parcel, he insisted that I send him a photo of the packed shipment. I refused because I've had previous experiences where pickup agents asked for package photos and later used them as "proof" of pickup even though they never actually collected the parcel.

To avoid any further issues, I cancelled the shipment.

A while later, I received another call from someone introducing himself as a Shiprocket employee. During the conversation, it became clear that he and Ahad were together. The person, Tarun Sharma, started speaking aggressively, and both of them shouted at me over the phone. Before disconnecting, they even threatened me by saying that they would never pick up my future orders.

Later, I verified that Tarun Sharma was actually associated with Delhivery, not Shiprocket. That means he had falsely represented himself as a Shiprocket employee while speaking to me.

As a seller, I understand that delays happen and pickups can occasionally be missed. What I cannot accept is a false pickup attempt, misrepresentation, intimidation, and threats for simply reporting an issue through the proper channel.

I'm sharing this here to ask if anyone else has faced similar behavior from Delhivery pickup staff while booking through Shiprocket. Is this an isolated incident, or is it becoming more common?

Honestly, this experience has made me think twice before selecting Delhivery for future shipments.

What company makes these, and what’s the best way to get it removed?

Hi, just bought this van (led to believe it’s ex-DPD) and it’s got this locking system on the back of the van. It’s turning out to be more of a hindrance than a good thing - as I’ve only got one fob and I can only open 1 cargo door at a time. So ideally I want to get the system removed, so is there anywhere anyone recommends taking it to? (Based Beds/Herts/Bucks region). Failing getting it removed, does anyone know what company makes this and where to get another fob made?

TIA

I am a student and a zomato delivery partner ask me anything

Hello everyone!

I am in my final year of college and I have been working as a delivery partner for a while now to make some money to cover my personal expenses. I thought I would do a QnA to guide students like me looking to earn some part-time income. Ask me anything about earnings, working hours, bookings, ratings, tips, incentives, bonus, offers, long distance pay, cancellations, order frequency, etc.

Pro tip for newbies

If you’re in a store (especially before noon) and can’t locate an item. Stop, take a deep breath, and do a wide scan of the store with your eyes. Look for a group of 2/3 70-80 year old women beside each other staring at the shelf like a monkey doing a math problem, a woman standing still trying to control the 4 kids she brought with her, or workers stocking shelves with 3 pallets blocking majority of the aisle. 99% of the time, the item you need will be right in the middle of one of those groups. 👍

Low Tips Default on App

Posting as a person who uses Door Dash more than I would like to admit. I am disabled and rely on delivery services.

Did you know Door Dash App now defaults to tips as low as $1.50 to $3.50 on most orders?

This is something I have noticed in the last 60 days or so.

Default tips are very low.

Have you noticed an increase in small tips?

Anyone drive for Veho in Austin, TX? How was your experience?

Can I choose what areas I would like to cover like east of Austin Greater area? Someone on indeed said that it's an immigrant app and gave them a 1 star. Also for other issues

"Terrible pay outs , way too many deliveries, no accountability from company when they screw up, no compensation when they chance your block , blames drivers when customer put the wrong address in, metrics are unfair . Boxes too heavy to carry up stairs. No one speaks English here. Overall terrible"

HELP ME FIND THAT DELIVERY DRIVER 😭⭐️

If your name is Dmytro, you're a Glovo courier delivering by bike, and you delivered a McDonald's order to Mieczykowa Street in Krakow (Poland) today (28.06) at around 9:00, this message is for you 😭🫶

DUDE, I'm so sorry for not leaving the promised tip 😭 You delivered my ice cream perfectly, riding that bike like crazy, and it wasn't melted at all. I know I promised to leave you a tip for that, but apparently I can't add one after the delivery 😭😭 I'm SO SORRY. You must have felt so betrayed 😭😭

I contacted Glovo, and they tried to call you, but you didn't answer. I'm going to try again later, but maybe this message will reach you faster than the Glovo employees 😭

Anyway, I do have a tip for you!! If you're reading this, please contact me and I'll send it to you! Thanks again for the super fast delivery 🥳

Air space payment issue advice.

So I’ve been driving a sprinter van for couple of months now and I was making a decent amount deliveries for 500 to 700 dollars.

However recently I changed my vehicle type from Sedan to Van, after doing the change all my deliveries are only paying for the weight and not the mileage or delivery partner fees, I’ve disputed multiple times on every delivery I did however they never gave a proper response, I kept on calling emailing and constantly badgering for them to fix the issue but no solution, today I got this email from them.

They say there’s nothing they can do however it’s clearly an error from their side.

I have over 30 delivery’s don’t without driver fees paid only the weight fee.

Will be possible for me to take legal action against this ?

Thanks in advance
