My experience with cytoscopy

Hi all,

I wanted to share my experience with cytoscopy in case it might be helpful for anyone who's scared of the procedure.

I was terrified and was looking for posts like this before doing it but couldn't find any recent one - so here's my story!

It wasn't as painful as I thought - they gave me a numbing cream but obviously there's no numbing cream in the world that is going to stop you from feeling a camera going up your bladder. That part was quite painful but it only lasted a couple of seconds.

I couldn't feel anything while they moved the camera around or when they removed it. I was given 1 pill of low dose antibiotics after - fingers crossed I won't get a UTI from it.

To give you an indication of the pain, I've had IUD insertion and cervical biopsy in the past and the Cytoscopy was the one that hurt the least. By a mile.

So if you're worried you might have bladder cancer (a nurse told me I might, because she saw blood in my urine, and gave me a panic attack....) and you're thinking of getting one, go for it <3

I hope this is useful for anyone who might need one!

Experience with post coital antibiotics?

Hi,

I've been having chronic UTIs for 2.5 years now. Tried d mannose, cranberry tablets and hiprex which didn't work.

I've recently spoken again with the NHS urologist in the UK who suggested taking cephalexin after sex.

I've never taken cephalexin and the doctor was very dismissive so didn't get to ask enough questions.

Did anyone have any success with it? Do you take it after sex or before and after? Is this enough, or is it better to take it every day for 6 months? The urologist himself didn't know and told me I can decide, which left me feeling pretty frustrated.

I'll try to speak to the GP as well to ask for advice but they usually tell me I need to ask any questions to the specialist.

I've also seen a private urologist abroad who gave me a bunch of expensive probiotics to take, so that should hopefully help re-establish a good flora in the meantime.

And I've scheduled a cytoscopy.

Thank you!

BST Hyde Park - timings

Hi, I'm planning to see Pitbull at BST Hyde Park for the first time this year, on 10th July. The ticket says the event starts at 2pm but I was wondering if anyone who's been there before could tell me when the main act usually starts? I hate standing in big crowds for hours, I need to use the facilities often for health reasons so I'd like to be there for as little as possible. I don't care about supporting acts (apart from Kesha) or being in the back.

View of parliament from Lambeth

Got off a bus in Lambeth without really thinking about where I was, I turned around and saw this. Sights like this make me think everything will be alright.

Edit: I'm not British and there was a time where I thought I might not be able to stay in the UK and everything I had built here risked going to the bin, so that's why looking at landmarks makes me feel emotional sometimes especially in the spring sun.
