Watching Whoopi’s movie “Eddie” and had a jump scare

He has a line. So weird seeing young Trump show up in random shows and movies.

With all the talk about the Knicks finals during The View, I’m not sure the show ever mentioned Eddie? It‘s such a cute movie with Whoopi being peak Whoopi.

How to approach friend about their drinking?

I have a longtime close friend (20+ years). I’m a light drinker, she’s always enjoyed alcohol. We live on opposite sides of the country but recently went on vacation together and I saw first hand exactly how much she’s drinking.

It’s more than “let loose we’re on vacation”. Ordering doubles every time, she tripped down half a flight of stairs then told me she’s not drunk. Her legs are covered in bruises so I don’t think it’s a rare occurrence.

Her grandmother was an alcoholic so I know there’s family history. She told me she has a “no vodka in the house rule” she’ll only drink wine at home- like that’s somehow better.

Like I said- my relationship with alcohol is very casual I can take it or leave it so this isn’t an area I’m really proficient in. I know there’s functioning alcoholics and I think this might be where she’s at.

At this point, I’m just worried about my friend. I don’t think she’s in an accepting phase and I’m worried saying anything will just not be met well.

Has anyone dealt with this and what did you do?

Seth at the Newport Beach tv fest

Seth was given an award and they did a podcast with him beforehand. At this point what story haven’t we heard? Some things he said that were new to me…

- Family Guy was originally supposed to be a segment on Mad TV. Once Fox saw the pilot, they scrapped the idea.

- He has the concept for a family guy movie mapped out in his mind. He would do it while family. Guy is still on the air. He’s waiting for one of his projects to bomb and then he would do the family guy movie to redeem himself (said in a kidding-but-not-kidding way)

- They asked him to do the Oscars again the next year after he hosted. He thought about doing it to prove the critics wrong, but decided that wasn’t enough of a reason.

- Someone from King of the Hill warned him not to do the voices for his own show- “at some point this will be annoying”, and he thought it would never. Then said he now complains when he has to record at his house in his pajamas.

- Not Family Guy related, but he said Ted the tv show costs 10 million dollars an episode to produce 🤯 because of the CGI

Andy gets an award at Newport Beach tv fest

I was there. All the OC housewives were there minus Heather- prob too much traffic from LA.

There was an interview with Andy beforehand- no new revelations...

I’m not a Vicki fan but I’ll say she looks great in person.

Tour of Whoopi’s office at The View

This came across my algorithm, and I thought it was interesting. I’m surprised how big her office is, that library area looks huge.

I’ve seen photos of the others’ dressing rooms and they look tiny (that might’ve been in the other building now that I think about it). Obv I’d expect Whoopi to have the biggest office area but its a huge difference, unless they have other areas too.

Hotel vs Airbnb- group trip San Diego

Hopefully this is the right sub to post this in 🤗

I’m planning my birthday friend trip in San Diego in a month. It looks like we will be 8 people ( girls in 30s, all friends).

I booked two hotel rooms (two queen beds in each) for two nights thinking a couple people would back out, but looks like everyone is a go.

After talking about it with someone, they brought up that hotel rooms dont have any common space to hang out and that Airbnb’s are better for groups.

I’ve never personally been an Airbnb person, I’ve only stayed in one on group trips that someone else booked. I don’t get the appeal and I like the housekeeping and straight forwardness of hotels. However, this convo has me second-guessing everything.

I mean, yes, an air bnb would get the common space of a living room and place to hang out. But the hotel I booked is right on the water and we have the convenience of being in the middle of everything, instead of a 15 min uber ride. The Airbnbs in SD are specifically underwhelming- like we might get a backyard but… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can someone give me the upside of an Airbnb? I guess it comes down to location vs common space, because in either situation people will have to share rooms/ beds. I asked the hotel to give us rooms next to each other but who knows if that’ll happen.

Should I stick with the plan or get an Airbnb? Has anyone done hotel rooms on a group trip and had it be annoying?

The weekend is pretty activity centric (Sat day activity, dinner/ drinks Sat night, checkout and activity Sunday) , and I figured people could go to the hotel pool during the downtime or explore the area.

As for price- the two rooms are about $1500 together. Airbnbs are about $1700-$2300
