Best pastrami sandwich?

Last month I had the best sandwich I've ever had. It was the New York pastrami sandwich from Empire Diner near Chelsea Pier. I've been thinking about it every day. It was fried pastrami on rye with slaw, pickles, mustard, and swiss. It was $29 and I'm dying to find as good of a sandwich cheaper. Send me your recs. Bonus points for Upper East Side and midtown.

Guilt over past relationship

I went through a very difficult breakup a little over a year ago with the man I thought I would marry. He broke up with me, and in many ways he treated me very poorly, and I reacted I think normally--but now I really cringe when I think about it, and I feel deep shame and sadness. We were not chaste in our relationship, and even while I know it's good that I did not end up marrying him, it feels very profoundly wrong that things are so sour between us. I really regret how mean I was to him after we broke up. I reached out to apologize some months back, and he said there was nothing for me to apologize for, but I feel very guilty all the same. Wondering how others have dealt with this guilt when reaching out is probably suboptimal for mental health.

Nonprofit storing event data

Hi! I work as the main Salesforce administrator at a smallish nonprofit. I don't have certifications and am self-teaching a lot to fit our needs using AI tools to walk me through different configurations, etc.

We want to store event information--attendees, who received invites, who registered, etc--in Salesforce. I think we would need to do uploads, and we'd like to be able to do reports that show us pretty easily who attended. I've been asking AI to walk me through this, and it keeps giving me incredibly operationally clunky ways of doing this that would require at least a day of work to get a single event and its attendees added. Having something operationally easy is necessary to get the system to stick in the case of staff turnover. Can anyone walk me through how they've done something similar? Thanks!

Meal train for family with new baby

A friend of mine just had her first baby, and I'm taking her family some food next week! I'm thinking of making the breakfast sandwiches (I think I might use sausage instead of bacon, but TBD) and Sally's Baking's baked oat cups. Seeking advice from parents and cooks alike!

Dinner for boyfriend's birthday

I want to make a great dinner for my boyfriend's birthday. He loves Italian and can probably cook Italian better than me--his family is Italian American, and he definitely knows good Italian food. He's also lactose intolerant. I want to make an appetizer, an impressive main, and a light dessert. Any suggestions welcome!

Switching from a nonprofit

I have two Ivy League degrees (a BA and MA) in the humanities. I did decently in college and finished my master’s in 2025. I worked multiple part time jobs the entirety of grad school. When I graduated, I had applied to almost 200 jobs and only gotten 3 offers, the highest being $65k at a nonprofit in New York. I took it and am doing well there, but am wanting to pivot and earn more money and use other skills. I worry that by doing something at a nonprofit it will be impossible to pivot. I know I am blessed with my education, and was the second in my family to go to college (the first being my brother). I don’t know what I did wrong to not get any better offers before (my GPAs were both over 3.75). Any suggestions would be great!

Want to stop gossiping

I find myself often gossiping. For those who also struggle with this, how do you guard yourself against it? Practical and spiritual tips alike wanted!

Healing from sexual sin

My ex-boyfriend and I were together for two years. We broke up a little over a year ago. We slept together a lot but would both be so upset at our sin, and we ended up stopping the last six months of our relationship. Our breakup was very hard and I was not treated well, but I was so proud of us for stopping in our sin. I am still bothered by it though and find it is often on my mind, and I worry that I will never be free from the memories of this sin, and that my future marriage should I be so blessed to marry will be affected. I really want us having stopped in our sin to count for something. I’m not sure what it would count towards since we broke up.

ELI5: How do different fabrics with the same composition have such different textures?

Am thinking stuff like cotton sateen vs cotton poplin, or polyester satin vs polyester workout clothes vs polyester georgette

Working for the City

I know the City has a really slow hiring process but I wanted to check whether someone else has had this. I’ve applied to a few roles with the City recently and in my portal, all show “New” except one, which shows “Under Review.” Is this a sign that it is actually being considered?
