I think I got overcharged for AC installation service (SCAM maybe)

Hey everyone, I don't really know how to put this, but something about this installation experience feels very sketchy.

I ordered an AC from Amazon, which included an installation service. I got a call from the installation team, and the technicians visited.

They used 16 feet of extra copper pipe and also provided a stand and some wire.

Here's where things got weird:

They initially quoted me ₹9,616, including ₹1,350 per foot for the copper + wire. I tried negotiating, but they said that if I didn't want a bill, they could do it for ₹8,000.

I agreed and paid ₹8,000.

However, I insisted that I wanted a bill for the ₹8,000. They then said that if I wanted the bill, I'd have to pay the full amount of ₹9,616. I don't understand why a bill would change the price, but I ended up paying the additional amount.

I now have screenshots of both the UPI payments and the bill they provided.

Can anyone guide me on where I can verify whether these charges are legitimate, and where I can register a complaint if this is actually overcharging or some kind of billing issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ongoing Udaipur Workcation

Workcationing in Udaipur since last weekend, and the weather has been absolutely incredible.

The city is clean, the local food is amazing, and I was lucky enough to find a cozy stay near Fateh Sagar Lake.

Cooking my own meals, working during the day, and soaking in the evenings. Life feels pretty good. ;)

Workcation trip to Udaipur (Monsoon Edition 🌧️)

This is my first trip to Udaipur.

I arrived on Saturday, explored Fateh Sagar Lake, tried some local food, and called it a day.

On Sunday, I headed to Rayta Hills (about 20 km from the city center), and honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be that beautiful. There was fog everywhere, the hills were covered in lush greenery, and at times you couldn't even see where the landscape ended.

After that, I visited Umbeshwar Mahadev Temple (another for darshan, and then made my way to Badi Lake. The views there were absolutely stunning.

The weather has been amazing so far. Over the last two days, I've only seen a couple of light rain showers, with a pleasant drizzle every now and then. It's been perfect for exploring.

Staying very close to Fateh Sagar Lake in a private room (Homestay) with a kitchen, bathroom, AC, Wi-Fi, TV, a proper desk setup & pretty much everything I need, for under ₹1,500 per day.

Happy to answer any questions if you're planning a trip to Udaipur. 🤗

Edit: This is just from day 1, hopefully I'll come up with more pictures, itineraries and experiences, as I'm still here till Sunday. :))

I'm building a travel buddy app that has no profile photos. Would you use it? (No promotion)

Hey folks,

I'm working on an idea for solo travelers and would love to get some feedback before I start building it.

The reason I'm excited about this is because I'm a travel enthusiast myself. I've been traveling solo for years, and one problem keeps coming up: finding the right travel buddy.

Solo travel is amazing, but sometimes you genuinely want a companion. Whether it's exploring a new city, sharing experiences, splitting costs, or simply having someone around when things don't go as planned, the right person can make a huge difference.

The problem is that finding that person is hard. You spend a lot of time trying to figure out whether someone is trustworthy, whether your travel styles match, whether they'll actually show up, and whether you'll get along for days or even weeks.

Most existing apps seem to focus heavily on profiles and photos. I'm thinking of going in the opposite direction.

The idea is to remove photos entirely and let people be evaluated based on things that actually matter:

A verified travel history and completed trips.

A trust/reputation score built from past travel experiences.

Reviews or feedback from people they've traveled with.

Compatibility based on travel preferences, personality, and habits instead of appearance.

The goal is to help people find reliable travel companions, not to build another social network or dating app.

I'm still in the early stages, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback.

If you've traveled solo, what was your biggest challenge when finding a travel companion?

What would make you trust someone enough to travel with them?

Is there any feature you'd absolutely want in an app like this?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, criticisms, or feature ideas before I start building.

Avoid Himachal During the Monsoon: My Worst Solo Travel Experience

If you're planning a solo trip to Himachal or destinations like Manali during the monsoon, I'd strongly recommend postponing it.

Last year, I planned a month-long workcation in August after checking road updates and seeing buses operating normally. Everything looked fine until we reached Mandi, where a major landslide blocked the highway. Our Volvo was stuck for nearly 50 hours before taking a difficult alternate route through remote, muddy roads, including a late-night vehicle transfer in unsafe conditions.

After finally reaching our destination, the first week was great. But then continuous rainfall triggered floods and flash floods. Roads were washed away, supply chains were cut off, and even basic groceries like fruits, vegetables, eggs, and chicken became unavailable. What was supposed to be a month-long stay ended after just 12 days, forcing me to return to Chandigarh.

If you're considering visiting Himachal over the next 2–3 months, it's worth waiting until the monsoon eases and road conditions stabilize. The mountains are beautiful, but during heavy rains, the risks from landslides, road closures, and disrupted supplies can quickly turn a dream trip into a stressful one.

What to do in Meghalaya for 2 days?

Hey everyone, I'm finally doing a Meghalaya trip next weekend! It'll be a workcation, so I'll be working (most probably from Shillong) and exploring nearby places on the 2 holidays I'll have. I'm looking for suggestions on places to visit and explore.
