Financial Aid decrease from freshman -> sophomore year. Need help

Hi! I'm a rising sophomore. Last year, I applied to Princeton with my parent's 2024 tax return since the 2023 one was outdated. With everything considered, I got a decent amount of aid last year. This year, I applied with the same 2024 tax return and nothing in our financial situation has changed at all. However, this year, I received no aid and am paying 3x more than I paid last year. I'm really confused since nothing has changed. I submitted an appeal to the Financial Aid office and they didnt budge, saying it's because of a "significant increase in parental assets" even though everything should have stayed the same? I'm now pretty worried since my family genuinely can't pay that much at this point. Can I ask them for a breakdown in the assets to potentially correct anything that was wrong? Or how else could I possibly proceed from here? (For the record -- my parents own two businesses which is why our assets look high on paper but we obviously can't sell the assets in question since we rely on those to make a living)

deal lead intern @ search fund type shop worth it?

So i got offered a deal lead (?) intern position at a small lower middle market M&A/search fund (unpaid, 16-24 hrs/week, aug-oct). I was honestly just throwing my resume at random gigs on searchfunder in prep for recruiting timelines. the role description basically says that this role will be dealing with post-LOI transaction execution, managing live M&A deals through due diligence, lender coordination, and closing alongside the firm's leadership

I'm a rising sophomore (class of 29) trying to recruit for summer 2028 IB/PE stuff so this is basically my first "real" finance experience (I did a small fintech SWE internship this summer). My main question is if 16-24 hrs a week unpaid are worth it for this role or if I'm better off picking something less time intensive and grinding networking/technicals. My resume is honestly looking pretty plain aside from the SWE internship that I mentioned earlier.

Just for some additional context, I go to a target and am an engineering student. I'm in my school's consulting club & trying to join more once this semester starts. I can see myself doing 16 hours a week but idk if 24 hours a week is feasible given grade deflation at my school

What are the cutoffs for GPA for investment banking?

Basically the title. I just finished my freshman year with a 3.52 gpa (I can probably get it up to a 3.65 by the end of sophomore year). I go to an HYP school where I'm essentially studying financial engineering/applied math and we also have grade deflation. Will gpa not matter as much if I network/get referrals?

Thoughts on this? $1300 Skytech Gaming Nebula 2 Desktop PC, Ryzen 7 9700X, AMD RX 9060XT 16GB, 1TB NVMe SSD, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 650W GOLD PSU, 240mm ARGB AIO, Win 11

Literally just bought this 5 minutes ago because it looked great for the price point but am now having post-purchase-clarity lol. Thoughts?

how to get a search fund analyst internship

Basically just the title. I'm a rising sophomore at a target with experience not directly applicable to finance. How should I go about finding a search fund internship? I've emailed so many at this point, and I never get a response back.

larping on resume

I just finished creating my resume and istg i feel like such a larper. I did actually do everything on my resume but when i put it in technical language like that, i feel like i'm really over exaggerating just how high stakes my projects/roles actually are? like nobody died when i implemented a new feature for a platform. should i just embrace the larp in this cooked ahh job market

Rising sophomore with no finance experience

Hello! I just finished my freshman year at a target, but I don't have any relevant finance experience (doing a tech internship rn). What are some ways I can get things to add to my resume? I've seen search funds recommended a lot but I don't see many on searchfunder (assuming it's because of the time in the year). Someone I met at an event last year runs a small local PE firm specializing in biotech. Would it be a long shot to reach out to him asking for an unpaid internship/any opportunity to shadow? Additionally, are there any certificates/courses that would be good?

Rising sophomore trying to pivot to finance

Hi! I'm a rising sophomore that goes to a HYP school and I’m trying to better understand how to position myself for recruiting in finance.

I came into college interested in software engineering and currently have a SWE internship at a startup. While I’ve learned a lot technically, I’ve realized I’m more interested in financial markets and investing (what my major is related to) than traditional software engineering.

At this point, I'd really appreciate advice on how I should work on strengthening my skillset/resume especially after not doing anything finance-related during my freshman year. I'm interested in something like asset management, but I'm also open to/learning about different paths. Most of my projects/extracurriculars/experience is tech (two minor SWE internships, SWE at school orgs, etc.), which concerns me due to the lack of experience in finance. What are specific things I could work on doing/learning this summer?

How can I best pivot or signal interest in investing without prior finance internships? What’s the most effective way to network with people in the field and learn more about what they do? Are there books or courses that are useful? I've heard of the Girls Who Invest program -- is this worth applying for?

Thanks so much!

Newbie looking to buy a prebuilt PC

Hey y'all! I've been wanting to get a new PC for quite some time, but ultimately decided against building one on my own and am looking into prebuilt PCs for now. These two options that I'm looking at right now were recommended to me. I would mostly use this for occasional gaming (like Minecraft and ROBLOX with my kids) and personal usage. I'm also a SWE and while I do have a pretty strong laptop, it would be nice if this could run something of that caliber. I'm pretty open to recommendations, so let me know if you would suggest anything else (although I'm a bit picky and would prefer a white build).
