My primary business is a marketing agency which does well enough, but I'm looking to start something on the side that's relatively straightforward, and is something my kids can help with.

Background:

A few years ago I bought a camper van and tested the idea of using Outdoorsy & RVEasy to see if it could actually turn a profit. I did manage to have it rented about 30-40% of any given month in the on-season, as an older rig I barely netted anything after maintenance and repairs.

The problem with buying new camper vans is that the unit economics don't work - they're too much $$ new, and they depreciate too fast (esp if rented). But it was fun, and ever since I've wanted to find a similar model with stuff that's not so finnicky.

At first I thought I'd look at renting motorcycles, but commercial insurance here in Canada once again breaks the economics.

So I turned to AI to help with "generating" some ideas, and one of the things that came up was, of course, generators.

The concept:

I like the idea of specializing in portable generators from the 2000W quiet inverters (Honda Whispersynch) up to the 10,000W larger portables for powering multiple appliances, sound systems, etc.

I think the main use cases would be weddings, outdoor events / parties, small construction projects, etc. Simple use cases, straightforward delivery & pickup, easy enough maintenance.

I don't want to compete with the already established commercial rental co's that mainly do large towable diesel generators for large construction projects, mining applications, etc. Totally different game and not something my kids can practically help with.

Where I live in BC, these smaller portables rent for about $100 - $200/day depending on size, and the delivery+pickup fee is about $150 within city limits, then per kilometer outside

This seems like a decent little gig if we have 5-10 units rented at anything like a 30-50% utilization rate, eventually.

Sense check & other ideas:

Have you done this or something similar? If so, I'd love to know what I should be aware of, potential pitfalls, what you wish you'd have done differently... etc.

Also, I'm not married to the idea of generators, it's just a starting point. Is there anything else that is relatively small size, not super expensive, but still rents in the $100 - $200 / day range (that isn't completely saturated like pressure washers)?

Hey all.

Very new to this, and find it fascinating. I have not yet properly listened to the tapes (at least not in an intentional "session"), but I have read Bob's first book, and listened to countless podcasts on OBE's, etc at this point.

My question:

When "you" leave your body, is this actually a conscious, lucid experience? As in, do you literally float out of your body and basically experience the Locales like a "first person player"?

Or is it more of a dream-state or impression, where it's more of a 3rd-eye impression?

Also, when you "return", do the memories persist? Or is like a dream where your brain basically discards it 60 seconds later?
