New 2027 Bolt? You’ll want to know this…

Picked up a new 2027 Bolt LT yesterday. My first EV, so I’m figuring things out about this new world including charging. I attempted to use the Level 1 charger that came with the car at home. Successfully connected the charging cable to an outlet in my garage and to the charging port on the car. An Amber light began blinking on the charger, looked it up, indicated a potential issue with my house wiring including a ground fault. No surprise, an issue for sure but I’m moving from this house in 18 days and already have a Level 2 charger installed at the new place.

So I decided to drive to the nearest IONNA fast charger and attempted to remove the connector from the port. No dice, it was locked into the port. 30 minutes of research on Google produced no helpful tips so pushed the free for 3 months On-Star button and talked with the rep, who transferred to an EV specialist. She asked some questions, had me try to push the connector in to see if it was fully engaged and try to remove it. Again, no dice. Then she asked if I had tried the emergency disconnect. It was new information to me, so no, I had not tried it. She directed me to open the hood and look for a wire loop with a yellow finger hook near the front driver side of the car. It took a second but I did find it, tugged it, and was able to release the pin that locked the charger into the port. Viola! I removed the connector, stowed the cable and drove to the IONNA charger.

Hope you never need to know this, but will help if you ever do.
