My girlfriend and I went to Dirty Dan's last night for the 4th of July and it was excellent. It was our first time going since they reopened after the fire and everything was just as good if not better than before. I had the New York strip medium rare and I cant wait to have it again because in my opinion they have the best steaks in Whatcom County. And I've been to Herb Niemann's and Max Dale's, both great places but my favorite is still Dan's. And to top of off they gave us a free slice of cake they decorated in red white and blue and you could taste the difference between what you get at the grocery store versus what their pastry chef made, it was just the right amount of sweetness and it was so nice of them to do! Definitely recommend going there because the food was perfect and the people their were so kind and welcoming you leave feeling happier than you were before getting there.
What’s next?
just want a quiet beer with my book, recommendations appreciated <3
Saw this pretty kitty maybe 20 minutes ago on Undine off Alabama. It seemed upset and I didn't see a post for a missing fur baby, so I figured I'd post its pic just in case. It wouldn't let me get close enough to pet, even with a gravy treat.
My drivers license expires at the end of the month. Went online to find an appointment, and there’s no appointments available until mid-August. In fact… there are no appointments available within 50+ miles of Bellingham until mid-August.
Is it even possible to just walk in for a renewal these days? My last renewal was in 2020, and my photo is >10 years old, so I can’t renew online this time. :/
Happy Sunday everyone! Once again we are gearing up to go to the Everson Nooksack Valley Farmers Market, from 10 to 3 in the park behind Herb Niemans Steak and Schnitzel House in Everson. Come support small farms and artisans while enjoying good vibes, good food, live music, meet your neighbors and hang in the shade!
We are all systems GO for sharing telescopes tonight at Zuanich Point Park!
Look for us near the Fisherman's Memorial.
7:00–9:00 PM: View the Sun through a Hydrogen Alpha telescope, revealing prominences and other solar features invisible to the naked eye.
After sunset: We'll begin searching for Venus, double stars, globular clusters, and nebulae as the sky gets darker.
All are welcome!
SPACE!!!
I lost my wallet somewhere around bellingham yesterday while riding my scooter around town. Its a minimalist wallet with a metal frame and a black leather strap on the back for holding cash. It has my email and "not your wallet" on the back of it. Edit: I found a map of bellingham and drew the route I took on it.
Novice garlic grower looking for advice from you seasoned Bellingham pros. The leaves are starting to yellow a little.
Also, I know I missed a few skapes. Oops
... Your mama's a ho.
You: 20-30 something white guy with sandy blonde surfer-dude hair stuck in traffic for 5 minutes
Me: Trying to gather information for two missing children from the car next to you.
You laid in on your horn for a lovely 10 seconds because the traffic warden hadn't yet spun the sign to let your line of cars out, and i couldn't hear anything else other than the heart-stopping HOOOOOOOOONK of your shitty van. I tried to talk to you but you were too caught up in life; too many places to be and too many people to meet to waste time on little ol' me.
When I walked away and you laid into your horn again immediately, I wanted my fist to connect with you so badly. Alas, it seems fate has decided that it was never meant to be.
I mean, I don’t want to sound like a kill joy but I feel like at least 51% of the community would agree. Or am I just being that old grumpy guy?
They just lined up there like it was meant to be and I had to do it. 🎆
had to turn my place into a giant white noise machine for my animals and it's just barely taking the edge off. we're all jumpy and exhausted so hoping there are some guesses on when the noise will start dying down.
I drove by the other day and the building is for lease now. I'm so sad. They were my favorite Vietnamese grocery store in town for years. The other one on Meridian is fine too but this one was just a little more nostalgic for me. The folks there were always so nice to me stuttering through my Vietnamese 🥺
You: slim black-clad body, respectable wingspan, hankering for peanuts, has a boyfriend
Me: a human being
I know, I just KNOW you remember my name. Crows remember everything.
I also know crows don’t have cell phones.
I guess we’ll just have to run into each other again someday.
