The iconic blue box with this gorgeous bottle, but does the packaging actually match what’s inside?
Picked this one up and I’m obsessed with the presentation. Has anyone tasted the contents?

What special decanters are you on the hunt for?
Have you seen anything like this?
Holidays, in-laws, small talk. I’ve found the cure!
So Costco's out here selling XO. Is it secretly the same juice in a cheaper bottle, or can you taste the difference?
You’ve got a special bottle of bourbon sitting in a collection, and you keep going back and forth on what to do with it. Part of you wants to just open it and enjoy the experience — that’s why you got into collecting in the first place. But another part is thinking about auctioning it off and using the proceeds to pick up a few more bottles for the collection.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
• Where to go from here — has anyone else faced this “drink vs. sell” dilemma with a prized bottle? How did you decide?
• Where to auction - what are the reputable platforms/houses people here have actually used and trust?
• How the process works - what’s involved in consigning a bottle (verification, fees, timelines, shipping/insurance requirements)?
• What to expect - realistic hammer prices vs. listed estimates, how long it usually takes to sell, and any pitfalls first-timers should watch for?
Appreciate any insight from people who’ve been through this before — especially if you’ve regretted (or been glad about) drinking vs. selling a bottle like this.
Skipping the boring “how do I get into bourbon” post. Instead:
If you had to hand a newbie exactly 5 bottles — no hunting, no allocated stuff, just shelf finds — what are they and why?
Bonus if each one teaches something different (wheated, high-rye, higher proof, etc.) so I’m not drinking 5 things that taste the same.
Also curious — does taste always win, or do you keep bottles for other reasons? Cool label, sick bottle or box shape, or you found something dusty that’s clearly been sitting in your package store forever. How much of collecting is “this tastes great” vs. “this thing is just cool to own”
And:
• How’d you learn to tell good from hyped?
• Any dusty shelf finds worth bragging about?
Not trying to chase grails, just wanna build a real shelf and know what I’m drinking. Let’s see what you got!
