SP Year 3 FYP vs YLI — Which should I choose?

Hi, I’m a Year 2 cybersecurity (defence) student at SP and we have to choose our Year 3 pathway soon. I’m currently deciding between:
FYP
YLI with 2 companies (2 × 22 weeks)
YLI with 1 company (44 weeks)
I need to get an A for whichever option I choose, so I’m trying to get some opinions from people who have actually gone through them.
For those who have done FYP/YLI, what was your experience like and which would you recommend?
For FYP, is there a proper rubric/marking scheme, and how difficult is it to get an A? For YLI, did you find the experience useful for getting a job afterwards? Also, would you say doing 2×22 weeks or 1×44 weeks is better for building experience/resume?
And for those who have applied for cybersecurity internships, how high does your GPA realistically need to be to get into a good company? How much does GPA matter compared to skills/projects/certs?
Would appreciate any advice, especially from seniors who have already done FYP or YLI 🙏

Affordable wavy/crinkle mandoline slicer for homemade potato chips in Singapore?

Hi, I’m looking for an affordable but good-quality slicer for making homemade potato chips.

I want the chips to have parallel wavy/crinkle ridges, similar to Calbee/Lay’s-style ridged chips. I know a home slicer probably won’t make them exactly as thin and consistent as factory-made Calbee chips, and that’s fine — I just want them thin enough to become crispy homemade potato chips, not thick crinkle-cut fries.

What I’m looking for:

Wavy/crinkle/ripple blade that produces parallel ridges across the potato slice
Stainless-steel blade
Good-quality and durable, not a flimsy disposable-type slicer
Preferably a mandoline with a hand guard/potato holder, rather than a handheld crinkle knife
Easy to slide/push the potato across the blade — I don’t want something that requires a lot of downward force to get each slice out
Ideally has a container/tray underneath to catch the slices, but this isn't essential
Makes reasonably thin potato-chip slices, roughly around 1.5–2 mm would probably be fine
Affordable — ideally around S$30 or less including shipping, if possible
Available in Singapore, whether from Shopee SG, Lazada SG, Taobao/Tmall, Amazon SG, or a local kitchenware store

If you personally own one that works well for potato chips, could you please share the exact product/model name or link?

I’ve seen lots of cheap generic slicers online, but it’s difficult to tell which ones actually have a proper thin wavy blade and which ones need a lot of force to push through a potato.

Thanks!

Epson L4260 only prints cyan/blue after months unused – nozzle check only shows tiny blue rectangle, can’t unlock printhead to inspect tubes

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my Epson L4260 EcoTank and I’m hoping someone has experienced this before.
The problem
The printer was unused for several months.
Now, every document I print (even black and white) comes out only in blue/cyan.
The black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink tanks are almost full (well above the minimum line), so it doesn’t appear to be a low-ink issue.
What I’ve already tried
Ran multiple Head Cleaning cycles.
Ran Power Cleaning.
Printed multiple Nozzle Checks.
The nozzle check is very strange. Instead of printing the normal black, cyan, magenta, and yellow patterns, it only prints a tiny cyan/blue rectangle in the corner of the page. The rest of the page is completely blank.
What I suspect
I’m wondering if:
the printhead is severely clogged, or
there is air trapped in the ink lines.
I wanted to try using a syringe to prime the ink lines, but I can’t even get to that point because I can’t figure out how to unlock or move the printhead carriage.
My issue with the printhead
I’ve watched several YouTube videos, but they don’t seem to match the L4260.
When the printer is off, the printhead is locked on the far right. I tried turning the printer on and opening the scanner unit, but I still couldn’t figure out how to release the carriage so I can move it manually.
Does anyone know the correct way to unlock the printhead carriage on an Epson L4260?
Also, based on the symptoms (only cyan printing and the nozzle check only showing a tiny cyan rectangle), do you think this is:
a clogged printhead,
air in the ink lines,
or a failed printhead?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Cyber Infra Config (Palo Alto Networks) Final Quiz – Do I need to study the Interactive + Reading sections?

Hi everyone,
Has anyone in Defence who has taken the Cyber Infrastructure Configuration course on Palo Alto Networks completed the final quiz?
I wanted to ask whether it’s necessary to study both the Interactive sections and the Reading sections in every module, or if the final quiz is mostly just the same (or very similar) questions that appear in each module’s quiz.
I’m trying to figure out the most effective way to revise before taking the final quiz.

Anyone tried InstaChef (ChefGenie) at Singapore Polytechnic? Which meals are actually worth it?

I recently noticed the InstaChef by ChefGenie vending machine at SP and I’m thinking of trying it.
For those who’ve bought from it before:
Which meals do you recommend? Which ones actually taste good?
Which meals have the best portion size and are filling?
Are there any meals I should avoid?
Is the food consistently good or is it hit-or-miss?
Is it worth the price compared to buying from the food courts?
Also, do they provide disposable cutlery (fork/spoon/chopsticks) with the meal, or do I need to bring my own?

Best YouTube IPA in 2026? Looking for something stable and bug-free

I’m currently using YouTubePlus 21.9.2, and overall it’s been great. The only issue I’ve run into is that sometimes videos play double audio (the audio overlaps with itself). Other than that, it works perfectly.
I’m looking for a YouTube IPA that:
Doesn’t require a subscription or paid service.
Is stable and as bug-free as possible.
Is safe and from a trusted/official source.
Supports the usual features like ad blocking and background playback.
I know this subreddit has a lot of recommendations, but there are so many different options that I’m not sure which one to choose.
For those who’ve tried a few, which one would you recommend and why? Also, if you’ve experienced the double-audio bug, did switching IPAs fix it?
Thanks!

Best food around Yishun MRT/Northpoint?

I’m looking for good food around Yishun MRT/Northpoint. Doesn’t matter if it’s a hawker stall, coffeeshop, restaurant, cafe or even a hidden gem nearby.
Just looking for places that are genuinely good and worth the money, not just “it’s okay”. Affordable options are preferred, but if something costs a bit more and is really worth it, that’s fine too.
If you can, let me know:
What the place is
What I should order
Roughly how much it costs (if you remember)
Thanks!

Any recommendations for an actually spicy chilli sauce that’s affordable?

I’ve been trying to find a really spicy chilli sauce, but almost every one I’ve tried has been disappointing.
They’re usually either:
More salty than spicy
Garlic chilli sauce (or other flavoured chilli sauces) where the garlic/flavour is stronger than the heat
Sweet chilli sauce with barely any kick
I’m looking for a chilli sauce that’s mainly about the spice. I don’t mind a bit of flavour, but I want the heat to be the main focus.
Ideally, I’m looking for something that’s:
Under S$8
Around 200–300ml (or bigger if it’s still within budget)
Easy to find in Singapore
Can anyone recommend any brands? Also, where did you buy them? (FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Giant, Cold Storage, Don Don Donki, Value$, Shopee, Lazada, etc.)
Would love to hear your recommendations, especially if it’s a sauce that’s genuinely spicy rather than just labelled “extra spicy”. Thanks!

Anyone taken these electives? Looking for advice before choosing 🙏

everyone! I’m choosing my elective soon and was wondering if anyone has taken any of these:
Introduction to Airline Industry (EP0503)
Maritime Corporate Management & Shipping Business (EP0901)
Airport Terminal Operation and Management (EP0504)
If you’ve taken any of them, I’d really appreciate if you could share your experience!
Some questions I have:
How easy or difficult was it to score well?
Were there a lot of presentations or group projects?
What were the assignments like?
Was there an MST, EST, or any major quizzes/tests?
Was the workload heavy or quite manageable?
Overall, would you recommend the elective?
Thanks!
