Does my hub 5 need an attenuator?

Sorry if this is a daft post; I've no idea how WiFi works!

Virgin just sent us a hub 5 to replace the old hub 3 that was there when we moved in.

The coaxial cable plugged into the old hub via a 6db forward path attenuator (see picture). I googled what that does, but the explanation went over my head a bit. As far as I can tell it lowers a signal that's too strong for the hub?

I've plugged the cable into the new hub via the attenuator on the basis that someone put it there for a reason. The internet works, but I'm wondering if the attenuator is strictly necessary on a newer hub.

So my questions are:

Does the hub 5 still need an attenuator if the hub 3 did?
If not, should I remove it? Logically I'd have thought lowering the signal strength would give me a slower internet connection?

Is this a red flag? (Repointing)

Sorry if this is a daft question; I'm new to this homeowner lark.

I've been quoted £850 for the following:

Repointing an area of wall about 2x2 metres
Repointing my half of a semi detached chimney
Replacing 10 spalling bricks

Seems pretty reasonable. However, they reckon it's a single day's work and they may be able to do it in the next couple of weeks.

Is this a warning sign? I was under the impression that anyone good would be booked up for longer. Or does that not matter so much since they reckon it's only a day? They've got a 9.6 rating on checkatrade which suggests they're not complete cowboys, but I'm not sure how reliable checkatrade reviews are?

Also, in case anyone's wondering, the reason I'm not doing this myself is that the section of wall is about 12 feet up and I've got no head for heights!

Good bricklayers for repointing in Beeston?

My house needs some repointing done on a wall and chimney. I'm not sure whether I can 100% trust the reviews on trustatrader or checkatrade.

Does anyone know of a good, reliable bricklayers in the Beeston area please? And also if there are any cowboys I should avoid!

Also, are there any respected awards, accreditations etc I should look out for a bricklayer having to prove they do good work?
