any good (cheap) alternatives to quarter pounders?

ive got a squier jazz bass with stock pickups that dont sound great. i primarily play guitar and just have a bass for recording bass lines on my songs, so im not really wanting to spend huge amounts of money on pickups.

a friend of mine recommended quarter pounders for the aggressive post-grunge style of music i write, and they seem like they'd work really well, but im not looking to drop that much cash on a bass i dont use all that often.

any recommendations for something cheaper with a similar sound?

I have a pair of humbuckers in my guitar, which I wired to a CTS push pull pot to split them. The output of the pickups is much higher in humbucker mode than it is in coil-split mode. Is it possible to attenuate the pickups in humbucker mode so that the levels remain consistent? Are there any reasons why I shouldn’t or couldn’t do this?

I recently fell in love with the Fender Meteora. I think everything about the guitar looks siiick, and from all the demos I've checked out, it sounds great. Does anyone have any experience with the Player Plus, or are there any problems I should know about before I sell a couple of my guitars to buy one?

Looking to do fretwork on most of my guitars and I've already got pretty much all the tools I need, except for a decent fret crowning file.

Any recommendations for one that's good without being super expensive?

Currently in my home studio i am using a pair of Kali LP-6's, and im looking to build an Accurate sub to pair with them. any recommendations for plans to follow?
