My thoughts on a few things in Dandadan

First, about Okarun: I’m still not convinced that he has retained some remnants of Turbo Granny’s powers. It seems like a lot of people are treating it as basically confirmed that he still has some of her powers, but at least for now, I’m still not completely convinced. I could obviously be wrong, but I think it’s important to separate what has actually been shown from what is just fan interpretation.

Another thing that really bothers me is the lack of communication between the characters. Sometimes it feels like they could figure out or understand certain situations much faster if they simply talked to each other. I know this can be part of the story’s dynamic, but at times it gets really frustrating.

And I have to talk about Count Saint-Germain. I think he has become my favorite character. He’s just way too mysterious, and I really want to know what his actual motivations are.

More specifically, I really want to know what his history with Turbo Granny is. Their relationship seems to be hiding a lot, and Saint-Germain definitely gives me the impression that he’s the kind of villain who is always following some plan that the other characters haven’t figured out yet.

Actually, the more I think about him, the more I feel like he must have a hidden agenda. It seems like almost everything he does has some ulterior motive behind it, and I’m really curious to find out what that motive is.

What do you guys think? Does Okarun really still have some remnants of Turbo Granny’s powers, or is the fandom reading too much into certain things? And what do you think Saint-Germain’s true motivations are?

Stigmas

Stigma of Death

Every human being is born with a mark on their body called the Stigma of Death—a symbol resembling the glyph for Pluto.

Awakening

The Stigma of Death awakens when its bearer survives a near-death experience or undergoes extreme trauma.

Stigmas

The powers awakened through the Stigma of Death are known as Stigmas. Each Stigma grants unique abilities to its user.

Theft and Transfer of Stigmas

A user can obtain another person's Stigma by killing them.

However, the transfer only occurs if the conditions established by that Stigma's "Death Certificate" are met.

Once inherited, Stigmas can circulate among users voluntarily. An inherited Stigma can be:

- Transferred to another user.

- Exchanged between two users, provided both agree.

- Gifted freely.

The original Stigma can never be transferred, exchanged, or gifted. Only inherited Stigmas can change owners.

Death Certificates

Death Certificates are ritualistic conditions that determine how a Stigma is inherited following the bearer's death. They establish the requirements the killer must fulfill to inherit the victim's Stigma.

Not all Stigmas have a Death Certificate. In such cases, simply killing the user is enough for the Stigma to be inherited.

Limitations

Every user possesses a single original Stigma, awakened by a near-death experience or extreme trauma.

The original Stigma is permanent and can never be lost, replaced, transferred, exchanged, or gifted.

In addition to this, each user may possess up to four inherited Stigmas.

Thus, a user can carry a maximum of five Stigmas simultaneously: one original and four inherited.

If a user has already reached this limit and wishes to acquire another inherited Stigma, they must relinquish one of their existing inherited Stigmas before the transfer can be completed. The original Stigma can never be chosen for replacement.

World

The story takes place in a world similar to our own, yet marked by the decay caused by successive wars.

Stigmas

Power System

Stigma of Death

Every user is born with a mark on their body known as the Stigma of Death, the shape of which resembles the Pluto glyph.

Awakening

The Stigma of Death awakens when its bearer survives a near-death experience or undergoes extreme trauma.

Stigmas

Stigmas are the powers awakened through the Stigma of Death. Each user manifests an original Stigma—one that is unique and directly linked to their awakening.

Theft and Transfer of Stigmas

A user can obtain another person's Stigma by killing them.

However, the transfer only occurs if the requirements established by the Death Certificates are met.

Once inherited, Stigmas can be freely transferred between users.

An inherited Stigma can be:

- voluntarily transferred to another user;

- exchanged between two users, provided both agree;

- gifted to another user.

An original Stigma can never be transferred, exchanged, or gifted. Only inherited Stigmas can circulate among users.

Death Certificates

Death Certificates are ritualistic conditions that determine whether a Stigma can be transferred following the bearer's death.

There are two types:

- Victim's Death Certificate: defines the conditions the victim's death must meet for their Stigma to be inheritable.

- Killer's Death Certificate: defines the conditions the killer must fulfill to inherit the victim's Stigma.

Not all Stigmas have Death Certificates. In such cases, simply killing the user allows the Stigma to be inherited.

Limitations

Every user possesses an original Stigma, awakened by extreme trauma or a near-death experience.

The original Stigma is permanent and cannot be lost, replaced, transferred, exchanged, or gifted.

In addition to this, each user can possess up to four inherited Stigmas. Thus, a user can hold a maximum of five Stigmas simultaneously: one original and four inherited ones.

If this limit has already been reached, the user must give up one of their inherited Stigmas before receiving another. The original Stigma can never be chosen for replacement.

World

The story takes place in a world similar to our own, but devastated by decades of war and conflict.

Although Stigmas exist, the vast majority of humanity is completely unaware of the existence of their users, who operate in the shadows, far from the public eye.

Stigmas

Update

Power System

Stigma of Death: All users are born with a symbol on their bodies known as the Stigma of Death, resembling the Pluto glyph.

Awakening: The Stigma awakens when a person survives a near-death experience or a traumatic event.

Stigmas: The name given to the powers awakened by users.

Theft and Transfer of Stigmas

A user can steal another user's Stigmas by killing them.

Transfer occurs only if the requirements of the Death Certificates are met.

Inherited Stigmas can be voluntarily transferred between users.

Two users can exchange inherited Stigmas, provided both parties agree.

A user can also gift an inherited Stigma to another user.

The original Stigma can never be transferred, exchanged, or gifted. Only inherited Stigmas can circulate among users.

Death Certificates

These are ritualistic conditions governing the transfer of a Stigma via killing.

There are two types:

Victim's Death Certificate: Determines the conditions the victim's death must meet for their Stigma to be inherited.

Killer's Death Certificate: Determines the conditions the killer must meet to inherit the Stigma.

Important: Not all Stigmas have Death Certificates.

Limitations

Every user possesses an original Stigma, awakened by their trauma or near-death experience.

The original Stigma is permanent and cannot be replaced, lost, exchanged, or gifted.

In addition to the original Stigma, each user can possess up to four inherited Stigmas.

Thus, a user can possess a maximum of five Stigmas at once: one original and four inherited.

To acquire a new inherited Stigma after reaching the limit, the user must replace one of the four inherited Stigmas prior to the transfer. The original Stigma is never subject to this replacement.

The story takes place in a world similar to ours but in a state of decay due to wars. The existence of Stigma users is unknown to the general public.

I created a power system where abilities emerge following near-death experiences or traumas. What aspects would you balance?

Powers awaken only when a person suffers trauma or a near-death experience. This event triggers a unique power linked to the individual's personality, emotions, or the circumstances they experienced.

However, there is a cruel rule: when a user is killed by another user, their power can be inherited by the victor. This turns every battle into a high-stakes contest, where defeating an enemy offers the possibility of acquiring a new ability.

World Factions

Given such a brutal rule, users have split into different groups:

Hunters: Users who view powers as a means of ascension. They hunt down other users to kill them and amass abilities, becoming some of the most dangerous individuals in the world.

Protectors: Organizations and alliances formed by users who believe that unity is the best way to survive. They protect their members and retaliate against any attack, discouraging hunters from targeting the group.

The Hidden: Users who conceal their powers and lead seemingly ordinary lives. They avoid using their abilities to escape the notice of hunters or other factions, preferring to live in anonymity.
