The LV Coussin bucket is notoriously hard to replicate, and after 6 months of testing 2 different versions, I’ve got some thoughts. Both bags were purchased from Aadan [link], and the experience with her was very smooth for the past 15 months.
I’m a firm believer in only reviewing a bag after using it for a few months, not just when it’s brand new. You need that time to see how it actually holds up for a comprehensive review.
In my region, the authentic has a much deeper emboss than what you usually see. My husband also pointed out that the authentic's side motifs are a total mess and thoroughly misaligned. Ironically, the reps line them up perfectly, which is probably the biggest giveaway! 🤣
Here’s the breakdown between Royal (Purple Dot) and Huahui (Beige Dot). Authentic is marked with "A":
Royal Factory (Purple Dot)
- Pros (+): Hardware details and dimensions are spot on. The interlock chain is the correct length, and the leather texture/fold feels right. Includes NFC.
- Cons (-): The leather is much thinner than the original, making it feel "airy." The enclosure strap is too thin, and after a few months, the side seams are starting to show. It’s delicate and needs to be babied. My strap also arrived missing a button.
Huahui Factory (Beige Dot)
- Pros (+): The "puff" is much closer to the auth and the emboss is deeper. It feels substantial and premium. The chain engraving actually looks more accurate than Royal’s.
- Cons (-): Hardware details and leather texture aren't quite right. Dimensions are slightly off (wider base, 1cm shorter), and the chain is one loop too long and more yellow. It has both a serial number and NFC—total identity crisis!
Unsure
- Lock number is different - Royal version is number #315 and appears more shiny. Huahui version is number #448 and appears more muted. Not sure which one is nearer to the authentic version.
Final Thoughts
If I had to pick, I’d buy Royal again for the accuracy, but I’d only use it sparingly since it’s quite delicate.
On the other hand, Huahui has been my daily workhorse for three months. I’ve been very rough with it and it still looks pristine. It’s cheaper, durable, and the one I’d comfortably travel with.
Surprising Insight: The Huahui version actually gets more compliments." The Royal version is more "muted" and looks closer to how the bag actually appears in real life. I just wish someone would "marry" the best traits of both!
