High King, who is the best choice?

So let’s think about it: the Jarls are the only real contenders; strictly speaking, the contest is between Elisif and Ulfric

If we include all the Jarls, the candidates are: Elisif, Ulfric, Balgruuf, Skald, Siddgeir, Idgrod, Igmund, Laila, Korir

For the sake of completeness, let’s add the various replacements for the original Jarls: Sorli, Dengeir, Vignar, Brina, Maven, Kraldar, Brunwulf

Taking them all into account, I’ve drawn up my own ‘tier list’:

S (the best possible candidates ): Balgruuf, Elisif - this also takes their associates into account to some extent (e.g. Proventus for Balgruuf, or Falk for Elisif)

A (the least bad ones – they have more flaws than the S models but are still capable): Ulfric, Maven, Brunwulf

B (average – not particularly good, but not terrible either): Brina, Igmund, Dengeir, Idgrod, Vignar

C (not good, or completely irrelevant and useless): Korir, Kraldar, Sorli

D (the terrible ones): Siddgeir, Skald, Laila

What do you think? Do you agree with me? Or do you disagree? Have your say

Chill night, Would you like to tell me about some of the role-play characters you’ve created?

I mean, who was your character, any interesting details about them, where they lived, what missions they undertook, and so on – I’ll share some of mine too:

The ‘last Ayleid’, a descendant of the final Ayleids, who travelled to Skyrim in search of his fortune; he truly values only the Dunmer because of their shared religious beliefs; he is, of course, pro-Daedra, anti-Thalmor and anti-Aedra, and is wary of humans; he lived in Riften but tried to visit Windhelm often to see the Dunmer.

Then there was my Bosmer, on the run from Valenwood; he was fleeing because he was a former anti-Thalmor partisan. Initially a fervent supporter of Ulfric, he later became disillusioned and defected to the Empire, settling in Whiterun.

An Imperial merchant trying to set up a business in Skyrim lived in Solitude and Markarth.

My Orc Paladin, a good, noble and heroic character – in short, a reversal of the ‘orc’ stereotype – naturally took great pleasure in wielding the Broken Dawn sword; a very good character, loyal to Jarl Balgruuf, who for this reason chose the Empire; he lived in Whiterun, at Breezehome.

My second Orc, Flaccus, a legionnaire from an Orcish empire similar to the Roman Empire – which I had created myself – who ended up in Skyrim for unknown reasons, lived at Tundra Manor but often travelled to Solitude because, naturally, he was pro-Imperial, as it reminded him of his homeland.

Then I played a Northern mercenary whom I called Bronn (ASOIAF Reference), who always went for the best offer; naturally, he joined the Thieves’ Guild and chose Ulfric solely for the loot.

A Breton heiress, on the run from her father, who decided to start a new life in Skyrim, used to live in Markarth, she was neutral in the war and ignored it

An evil Breton mage called ‘Tom’, who seeks immortality and who, of course, becomes the Archmage of Winterhold, hates Alduin, Miraak, Harkon and all potential rivals

A Northern female archer, who moves to Whiterun, comes to admire Balgruuf and then Elisif in Solitude, and decides to join the Empire

A very young Northerner, idealistic and rebellious, and a fan of Ulfric, who – despite his moral hesitations – eventually chooses the Stormcloaks, though he is left with some doubts in the end

A Dunmer who hates fire because she lost many relatives to the Red Mountain and hates dragons – in fact, she joined the Blades – and (yes, unfortunately she did, but never again because of that wretched Delphine) she obeyed Delphine and killed Paarthurnax.

Now, my new character is a villain, an Altmer who used to be a Thalmor officer, but who was too radical even for them and was expelled and hunted down; as a fugitive, he ended up in Skyrim, and the rest is history.

Obviously, I’ll play the character accordingly; naturally, he pretends to be ‘good’ when it suits him, but he remains true to his beliefs and is clearly hostile towards the Thalmor because he fears they want him dead.

What about you? Do you like my characters?

Inizio io:
