Need some help on a guitar...
I like picking up older used Schecters and modding them...I have posted about that before in this sub. I just picked up a C-1 XXX off Reverb from a seller with good ratings and it arrived yesterday.
It is a 2005 era model - and I happen to have another one from the same year that I modded a couple of years ago. I started noticing differences and oddities with the one that just arrived, so I thought I would run it by you all and see what you think.
First pic is the headstock from my previously purchased XXX. White lettering for the logo...this matches a 2006 model I have as well. The second pic is the one I just received. The "Diamond Series" is in a different font and the D is actually separated and on top of the rest of the word Diamond - almost as if it came loose as they were spraying the clear coat.
Third pic is the serial number and country of manufacture labeling from the previous one I had. It looks like many of the similar era Schecters I own. The next pic is the just arrived one...this is just odd. I am not sure I have ever seen an "S" at the beginning of a Schecter serial number and I have never seen it at the top of the headstock either. In addition, the "Made in Korea" is a sticker and it doesn't say "Crafted in South Korea" like most Schecters from that factory.
The next set is the most odd...the dancing girl inlays. Next pic is the first one I have had for a while and it matches a 2006 I own as well...smaller inlays in the center of the fretboard. The final pic is the new arrival - same frets. The girls are GIANT compared to the other. They fill the entire width of the fretboard!
I am thinking this is a fake, but wanted to see if anyone had seen things like this on other legit Schecters. I don't think the seller knew it was a fake, but he is going to have to accept the return or give me a refund. Let me know if you think I am right on this one....thanks.
