Added a Schecter Reaper 5 :)

My five string was a btb. Although I love btbs, I didn’t love the preamp in my btb675, so I took a gamble on a reaper. I had never played one, but musicians friend had an aggressive price and I jumped on it.

So far I love it :) It sounds and feels amazing, but the burl veneer looks a little cheap.

Just bought an omen extreme, confused about models

Hey everyone. This is my first electric guitar. I spent about 3 hours today trying different guitars and loved the way the schecters felt. I tried both the demon and omen, and ended up getting the omen extreme for $449 which I thought was a good deal.

The weird thing is though when I go on the schecter website, the color I got isn't even sold anymore? Did they discontinue certain colorways? Mine is like a blue burst. I just wanna make sure I didn't buy an older discontinued version of the guitar that's been updated with better parts.

NGD

I've been eyeing this guitar for a while and finally got it. I was torn between this one and the LTD Buzz 7( huge unearth fan) but ultimately this one won on specs. Stainless steel frets, Floyd rose 1500 and 26.5" scale in case I want to tune down... Plus I have a thing for T style guitars. I've had it for a couple weeks now and my love for it has only grown. Super Slim neck that's fast and comfortable for me, the sustainiac is cool as hell although I'm not a good enough player to take full advantage of it.. yet . Love the Fishman pickup. People hate on it but it produces such a huge variety of tones, I'm not sure if any other pickup can do it like a Fishman. Plus it looks awesome. I think my GAS is fulfilled for a while.

Downsides- it is a heavy guitar. I mostly play sitting down and had to adjust my seating position to feel comfortable. Not a huge deal but I was not expecting this.

It did not come with a case or even a gig bag. It's a shame that for this price it does not include any protection.

Matte black finish- gets smudges on it very easily and a bit of a pain to clean but totally with it for me. I change my strings often and clean my guitar with every string change.

Despite all of that, the fit and finish and feel of this guitar is excellent, the action and setup was fantastic from the box and I didn't change the strings for 2-3 weeks after getting it. Best quality guitar I've owned so far.

Bonus pic of my small collection included.

Fourth of July means 1/4th the original price

THANK YOU TO THIS GUY’S SON!

Apparently his son abandoned this at his dad’s house a decade ago. It freaking looked like it for sure… The dad was asking $250 and happened to be about 4min down the road from my house. I ran down to the bank, grabbed the cash, and drove a responsible speed towards his house.

This is the second time I’ve been insanely lucky with purchasing a used guitar this year. Check the Ibanez post from a few months back for the other lucky find. I thought for sure it would be some sort of fake Hellraiser. Turns out it‘s super real and from 2005. After about an hour of cleaning it looks so much more like a $1k+ guitar. I’m waiting to restring it until I address the lopsided bridge pickup and a few screws that look like they should be replaced. So stoked to play this thing asap.

I’m hoping one of my guitar students wants this since a few of them could really level up with a great guitar.

Is the Schecter C1 Ink Bomb a guitar worth buying?

Recently I came across the Schecter C1 Ink Bomb guitar while browsing Schecter's online site. The guitar immediately caught my eye, and after looking at the specs, I was shocked about how good they are for the price range the guitar is in. Does anybody on this subreddit own one for themselves and can tell me whether or not the guitar is worth the money?

Help me pick my next guitar - Schecter Omen Elite 6 (Charcoal) vs Schecter C-1 Exotic (Spalted Mapple)

I'm looking to buy a new guitar that I'll hopefully enjoy for a long time, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to two: the Schecter C-1 Exotic Spalted Maple and the Omen Elite-6 (Charcoal).

For a bit of context, I'm not a gigging musician or anything like that. I just play at home after work because it's something I genuinely enjoy. I like learning riffs, messing around with solos, and playing mostly metal and hard rock. I don't need a professional instrument, but I do want to buy something that's well made and that I'll be happy with for years.

The Omen Elite-6 really appeals to me because I prefer a hardtail bridge, I like the look of it, and from what I've heard, the pickups seem to fit the kind of music I play really well.

The C-1 Exotic, on the other hand, has a lot of features that I like: ebony fretboard, X-jumbo frets, locking tuners, carbon fiber reinforcement in the neck, and I absolutely love the look of the spalted maple top.

I do have a couple of questions, though. One is the pickups on the Exotic. Most of the demos I've found are blues, clean stuff, or classic rock. I haven't found many people playing heavier metal on it, so I'm curious how well the Diamond Plus pickups handle tighter, heavier riffs.

The other thing I've noticed from photos and videos is that the upper volume knob looks pretty close to where my picking hand would naturally sit. For those of you who own one, is that actually noticeable when palm muting, or is it one of those things that looks worse on camera than it is in real life?

Unfortunately, trying them before buying isn't really an option since the closest stores are several hours away from me, so I'm relying a lot on other people's experiences.

For those of you who've played or owned either guitar, which one would you choose and why? Is the C-1 Exotic worth the extra money over the Omen Elite-6, or is the Omen such a good guitar that you'd save the difference?

I'd especially love to hear from people who've actually owned one or both of them rather than just compared the specs.

Can someone explain Sustaniac Pickups?

I just got an Evil Twin with Sustaniac Neck pickups and not sure how to play with them. Do I have to mute every string not being used? Unmutted strings start to hiss even when it's just sitting in a guitar stand unplayed. I have to turn off the sustain feature.

Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Is a Schecter Demon 6 FR for £215 worth in the state that its in

Ad says there is a couple chips and that he has lost the locking nut clamps. I am hesitant as the pickup switch(which still works) has been sheared off which has me worried how the guitar was treated. It all works(apparently) but i would view it in person so I would be able to test it.

Should I low ball lower because of the uncertainty of the history the guitar? (The price was already reduced from £350)

I am not sure how sturdy Schecters are against abuse, and wanted some opinions on if I should risk it, should I ask to look inside the guitar if I visit?

Waiting to hear back on how old the guitar is and how the switch broke

Schecter C-1 Exotic Spalted Mapple

Two stores have the same guitar with different patterns. I can't decide between the two. The headstock on the right looks sick, but the body on the left is more pronouncedz though I'm not a big fan of the sides looking kinda unfinished.

I'd like to get some opinions on this. also, if you have the guitar, are you happy with your purchase?

Schecter Solo II Custom

This will be my second guitar. I previously used a Yamaha Pacifica 112J, but it stopped satisfying me. I really admire artists like Slash and Gary Moore. Buying a Gibson would have been the right move, but they are just too expensive 😅.

The S-II body shape is highly underrated

This is my Blackjack ATX S-II that I purchased from Musicians Friend back in 2016. I've been hoping that Schecter would put more of these out there, but I think that the current climate in the industry is that other companies are trying not to step on the toes of Fender or Gibson.

Truly unfortunate because, if Fender or Gibson aren't willing to do cool shit, then they should shut up and get out of the way instead of trying to put their boots on the neck of innovation.

Need help valuing this 80's Schecter PT (Saturn?) Tele

Thank you for the add. I love finding passionate nerds like myself haha

I think I bought this guitar in 1986 when I was living in Houston.

The first thing I did when I bought it was take off the locking tremolo system and replaced it with a simple Badass. I wish I still had it but alas ....................

I believe it to be - based on info I got from people on the tdpri.com forum

"a Dallas-era Schecter with the 22-fret neck and having had their locking trem system (made for them by Schaller) as the original bridge so that makes it roughly late 1984-1987-ish when Fender revoked their license for the headstock shapes and hit them with a C&D, forcing Schecter to change the headstock shape. For what it's worth (given all the hubub about C&Ds thanks to Gibson vs. Kiesel, and Kiesel vs. Harley Benton) this was the correct thing to do; Schecter had been granted a license to use the headstock shapes for replacement parts (like what Warmoth and the other parts companies have), but Schecter switched their focus to building production guitars instead of supplying replacement parts."

Currently, it has a '75 Fullerton Herbie Gastelum Strat neck on it and is one of the most unique and groovy guitars I have ever had but - because I don't play it very often and would like to thin the herd, so I am looking for help in assessing it's value.

Thank you in advance,

E.J.

*additional notes from the TDPRI forum

"It's my understanding that these are probably a mixture of parts brought from Van Nuys and parts made in Japan by Schecter Japan (which was a joint venture there). Per Tom Anderson they didn't make any 22-fret necks in the USA; they were all MIJ. But of course Tom left Schecter when they moved to Dallas in late 1984."

"It's an overlap - the 22-fret models were called the Saturn also. The name "PT" didn't come about until after the company was sold to the current owner and they moved back to California, which was circa 1988.

Plus even though they used MIJ bodies and necks they were assembling in the USA in Dallas; the pickups look like the covered SuperRocks."

Had this for about 6 months now. Been loving it.

What’s a solid TOM bridge upgrade?

This is a twenty year old Omen Diamondback series. Looking for a solid upgrade that isn’t too too pricey. The bridge is very rusty
