Need advice on 2018 elantra tail light pocket/quarter
Ive done maybe 10 to 15 quarter changes so far im getting pretty proficient at doing them but this is the 3rd quarter I have done on this generation elantra and every single time without failure the tail light gives me such a hard time, I have to be doing something wrong.
This one was hit in the tail light, quarter, lower quarter and caved the wheel house in pretty good. I spent a lot of extra time rough pulling everything out trying to avoid having problems with this light. The pocket itself wasnt damaged too badly, I even left the oem sealer marks to line up the pocket to the new quarter, all my other gaps are good just this tail light like every other time, rocks up and down, either the gap is too wide on the top like in the picture or too wide on the bottom. Im about to lose my mind someone send help lol
Autobody guy here, I need some tips from the pros
Im a 4th year autobody apprentice i did a somewhat in depth course on repair methods with the rods and glue pulling but mostly for the autobody side and focused on minimizing damage with those then using conventional methods to finish it. I want to be able to use the rods more but im just not good with them. So I bought myself a good light and some decent generic rods I have a nice stand and unlimited scrap panels to practice on so my questions are:
If I can get my hand on the rod behind a panel im good but when I cant I keep losing where it is. Is that something that gets better the more you do it or do I just suck lol?
What should i be doing to practice just keep putting dents in it and pushing them out? i have a pretty clean hood to use at the moment
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated thanks
