In 2022 our desktop computer stopped working mid-game. Just randomly crashed. Booted up and played again, crashed, and since then hasn't really worked. Was from around 2006 or maybe 2009.

It had windows 7 and was in family for over a decade.

I'm clueless about hardware so I let a friend investigate the computer and they think it might be the video card has failed. The computer seems to boot up if he replaced the video card with a cheap one he has.

The issue is, what do we replace the Radeon HD5770 1GB with?

We hope to still be able to use the computer with Windows 7 and just continue to play the old games on it (like modded Civ 3+4, Total War games from Rome to Shogun II, tycoon games, Silent Hunter 4, Paradox games like EU4, CK2, HOI3, Vic 2 stuff like that) ~2011 era games and earlier. Not interested in newer games

Can one even buy a new HD5770 or is that a waste of time? What would you do if you were in this position? Never bought hardware before so confused how to replace this part when it is antiquated, hope somone can give some advice
