My family (CROCE, CROSSE, CROSE) is looking for the birth certificate of our ancestor.
I have been searching “FIORAVANTE CROCE” for it for almost a decade, and since I began researching our family history, I have encountered variations in the family records because the surname was not recorded correctly for some of the Italian immigrant’s children.
We do not know exactly where he was born. Some relatives have mentioned Cremona, Turin, Piedmont, Armeno, and other locations. However, we do have documentation showing that he departed from Genoa and arrived in Argentina in 1887 at the age of 29. He married Manuela Roman Basan in Paraguay, in 1888, and the records continue from there.
I have also found records for other individuals named Fioravante Croce, but they do not appear to be our ancestor because their ages and the corresponding dates do not match the timeline we have established.
I have conducted extensive research through FamilySearch, but we do not have his passport or any other definitive identity document. In my opinion, the case is complicated, but if there is anything that can be done to identify his place of birth and locate his birth certificate, we would be extremely grateful for the assistance.
Any information regarding the cost of genealogical research would also be greatly appreciated. My brother has sent many emails to different archives and research organizations. Some relatives believe that our ancestor was born in a place referred to as the AVO, while others have told us that the records were destroyed in a fire and that only records dating from around 1920 onward are available. This was discouraging, but we would very much like to continue searching.
Edit: On his death certificate that he was from Milan, but it doesn’t mention anything about his date of birth, only his date of death.
