Performance tracking app

I went out and bought a Waydoo board, what a freaking blast. Was out today, this was like my seventh or eighth session, and was really cruising for the first time on foil for long distances. Even running up the gears a bit. Thrilled I went ahead and did this, it’s like mental health steroids, lol.

That being said I’m hopeful to get suggestions for apps I can load on my phone which I’ll wear around my neck in a water proof pouch to tracks my rides, speed, route tracks. I don’t want to buy a smartwatch. Thanks for any help.

Today is the Day

It’s a beautiful summer day in the Hudson Valley and I’m waiting for a truck to deliver my new efoil. Waydoo lite with the upgraded propulsion, battery, and 35 inch mast. I’m hoping by 2.30 the truck will be here but of course it’s always late. I’ve foiled exactly one time but I live overlooking Greenwood Lake with an access point a few hundred feet from my front door. So I know it’s something I’ll do a lot to change life’s perspective. In this case getting to gliding across the water. Waiting game is killing me!

Newbie perspective

I live on a popular lake in the Hudson Valley, NY. And have been trying to find something worthwhile to do on the lake after my left shoulder told me not to kayak much anymore. I’m not young, lol.

Went efoiling yesterday for the first time. A kind local lass lent me her Fliteboard. I was up on it quickly, never bothered trying to kneel or Superman fly it. Could easily motor along slowly with the board in the water. Got it up to foil a few times but never for long in the 30 minutes that I was graciously given. The people I was with were very supportive, they all cruise around with ease. I’m assuming with some practice I could get on foil and cruise around the lake. Which seems totally great. Not sure I’ll ever progress to really carving.

Today was Hydroflying. A V shaped foil board with handlebars. See the video. Can plow the nose without swamping immediately. Quite a bit more expensive even for the lowest model. I’m a motorcyclist so the handlebars make it easy to get it up to foil. It seems in general throttle control is the key to not going too high and breaching high while not pitching too far forward or back while on foil. Definitely could carve right away and get on foil easier with the handlebars but I can see the limits of the bottom tier propulsion for what is a bigger and heavier board. But the ceiling of carving definitely way higher with handlebars.

So, I’ve narrowed my options to the Evo Pro light or this base level HydroFlyer new. Definitely leaning away from the HydroFlyer but still in the mix.

Finally, for the Waydoo they have a 27” or 35” mast. I’m riding 99% on a calm lake, weigh 150lbs, and although I was only out there once I think I might benefit from the shorter mast. But I’ve read several people saying they went longer quickly. It’s hard to say from one session how I’ll progress but as I mentioned I was right up on mid size board. But certainly couldn’t stay on foil for long.

Gruv Haul

Did the Father’s Day sale, mostly buying classics I haven’t seen in ages mixed in with top rated titles I haven’t seen too many times.

Smoke Shop

Went out and bought the Scotte injector, recommended for sure, Roxwell tubes, the only ones I’ve tried so far but doing the job, and 16 oz of D&R Venguer platinum tobacco. Rolled 100 cigarettes and I am thoroughly pissed at myself that I haven’t been doing this for the last 20 years. I like a tight pack, especially towards the filter, but when done right I’d say 95% the same as a Marlboro light at a seriously lower cost. Going to perhaps try Three Sails next as maybe a bit stronger would be ok. But, definitely no nicotine cravings smoking these cigs, perhaps smoke a few more as they seem to go a bit quicker, but damn it’s crazy money saved and “healthier” than factory cigs.

Awrighty fellas

I bought a Scotte crank rolling machine, a bunch of Roxwell tubes and 16 oz of D&R Venguer platinum tobacco. Going to try and save serious money from the $300+ a month I’m spending on Marlboro lights.

If I like it I’ll buy the powermatic III plus and I’ll be styling!
