8 PM, low 60 degree temps, cloudless early spring sunset in progress with awesome colors and stars already visible - There are many stories posted to the Porsche forums about being a dad and enjoying quality time in the Porsche with kids. Awesome, no doubt about it. Tonight though, I (the "kid" in this case) picked up my mom, who is of a certain age and diminishing physical capabilities, in the cabriolet for a midweek evening drive. I was making excuses in my mind to not call and make the offer, but am very glad I decided to follow through. Convertible down, heater blowing, wind screen up and a blanket in case she needed a bit more warmth. It was a great drive. While Mom really appreciated it, once I got my mind out of work mode, I probably appreciated the quality time even more. Kids/spouses/partners are great, but this is just a reminder that if you are lucky enough to still have your parents around, don't forget your opportunities for sharing a quality driving adventure with them, too.
