Black lines on screen

Black lines on screen

Hello, we purchased a Frame Pro a few months ago. It’s been fine and we mainly display artwork on it. Yesterday I noticed the picture had some black lines on it, so I switched to a white background to take this photo. I shut off the TV then turned it back on, the lines are no longer present. Is something wrong with the TV, should I contact Samsung to fix? Thank you!

Something ate my knotweed!

I found a baby JKW in my yard and have been very careful not to accidentally take it out. I am waiting for the fall window and prepared all the materials for the spray. However, every time it grows to a size of a human palm, something came to eat all the leaves! I prepared a whole gallon of gift for it!

Deciding on a long-term family car. Is XC90 a good choice?

Hi everyone. We are currently driving a X1 and considering upgrading to a 7-seater as X1 is too small with kids. X7 is too expensive and we are looking for a car that would cost under 70K USD. XC90 is one of the top choices that we are considering, but we never had a Volvo so would like to hear from the owners.

This will be our family car, and we plan to keep for 10-15 years. We don't drive a lot but I expect it to last around 200K miles. We will buy new and every year we plan put aside about $1500 for potential maintenance / repair costs.

  1. How is the reliability? My friend used to have a 2010 S60 but not happy with it. He got a Honda Pilot after it. Our X1 has been trouble free as well in the past 6.5 years.

  2. What should I expect for regular maintenance? BMW regular maintenance is not expensive with BMW Value Service program, but it costs 2-3K if we want to change those “lifetime” fluids. Indy shops charge more than the dealer in my area. Is XC90 the same?

  3. Is B5 underpowered or it is fine? Apparently it is a family hauler so we are not going to drive it like a sports car and I tend to prefer comfort over sporty.

  4. It is a “mild hybrid”. Does that mean it is the same hybrid like a Honda or Toyota or we should still consider it as a regular gas car?

  5. Is an extended warranty a must or we don’t need it if we put aside $1500-2000 a year dedicated to maintenance and repair costs? I am confused with BMW that even the B-series engines are great but everyone still recommends to buy an extended warranty.

  6. We are also considering MDX, TX350, Q7 and Pilot (my friend absolutely recommends it). Do you still prefer XC90 for long term ownership?

  7. Will there be a new generation coming next year? The current generation seems to be out for quite some time.

Thank you for your inputs!

I plan to replace my trans fluid. Do I have to use the genuine fluid?

I am not handy and every time I tried to work on my car, I encountered unexpected things. A seized bolt, unfit tools, all the components that I have to touch are located in awkward places, etc. Generally, I don't have a good feeling about working on cars, so I go to the dealer every time.

Now it comes to the transmission fluid time at 50K miles. Dealer quoted me $1200 for 7L drain and fill and my local indy shops are at the same price level if not more.

I watched some YouTube videos. It seems on my 2020 F48 X1 with the 8spd Aisin gearbox, it is a relatively painless process and don't seem to warrant the $1200 price tag, so I plan to try it myself. When I looked for the fluid type, the FCPEURO has several choices:

  1. BMW ATF-7 at around $70 per liter

  2. TITAN ATF 8400 ULV at $12 per liter

  3. Febi - Bilstein 183413 at $30 per liter

I think I need at 7L to do 2 drain and fill. ATF-7 would cost $550, but TITAN ATF 8400 only costs less than $100. Which one do you recommend to use? Half of the dealer price $1200 is the fluid cost, so ATF-7 must be used, maybe the dealer price isn't so bad? Thank you!

I plan to change trans fluid, got a question

Hello. I have a 2020 X1 with Aisin 8 spd transmission. I bought the car new and now at 49000 miles I plan to change trans fluid in the next few thousand miles.

I contacted a dealer and an indy shop. Dealer price is around $1,800 and indy price is $1,300. The difference is because the dealer changes the pan and filter while the indy shop only drains and fills fluid. If I want the indy shop to change the pan and filter, it would be more expensive than the dealer price.

My question is whether the pan and filter should also be changed when changing the trans fluid? Since the indy shop is not cheaper, if I need to replace the pan and filter I will go with the dealer. Thank you!

I plan to treat the JKW this year. I have a few questions

I read about the JKW and how to manage it. I decide to follow the Flower Frost Window method this fall, and I have a few questions. I am in NE U.S., Thanks!

  1. As of now the plant is about 4 ft tall. Do I need to cut so it is not too tall to apply glyphosate in August / September? PSU says I can cut in June, then wait 8 weeks, but others say cut will only cause the root to grow more?

  2. I have trees in that area. The trees are already grown but I don't want to take the risk of killing the trees. Does that mean I can only use a paint brush to apply glyphosate on JKW leaves?

  3. The JKW is on the neighbor side but right at the border between my property and theirs. It looks like a JKW farm over there. I can only treat the plant close to my property line, but I cannot go far to the neighbor's side to treat every plant. Can I still achieve the goal that no JKW close to my property line?

I have this plant all over my yard every spring. What is it?

This plant appears in my yard every spring and goes away when the temperature cools down. The stem is reddish, and it grows tall fast. I cut it every time I see it, but it always comes back.

I tried a few online identification tools. One says it is wild garlic and another one says it is Japanese honeysuckle, but I don’t think the answers were correct.

I am in Northeast US. Thank you!

In the past 5 years I have been using a Surface Pro 8 and it still works fine. I am a very light user, mostly use Internet and some Excel / Word, watch movies, etc. I play games on PS5 and I don’t have the need for any professional software.

I think a Neo would meet my needs but I want a 15” screen. I like the Air for MacBook’s design, long battery life, no fan, and I use iPhone so it would integrate better. Also I used a MacBook Air before the Surface, so I am familiar with the macOS. For me macOS is indifferent compared Windows 11 because I don’t do anything that can make me feel which one is better.

My alternative would be a Surface Laptop 15”. The specs are similar, and for my use case I believe I would waste at least 80% of capability on both models. However, I keep a laptop for long time because I never feel the need to upgrade, so this new laptop I plan to keep until it dies. I am considering the 16GB ram + 1T SSD, but not sure if I should go for M4 or M5.

What’s your recommendation? Thank you for your advice!
