Not my biggest crappie ever but the largest out of this pond I have ever got in 20 years of fishing it. 6’ Magic L with an older Shimano Sahara. Used a Bobby Garland baby shad on a 1/8th oz. Drop shot rig
Just got the 6’ Handing magic L spinning rod off of Aliexpress. in light power. Only like 40$. I really like it. It is a very sensitive rod. I wish I would have gotten the UL power instead. I was hesitant to go UL because I have a 4’6” micro series from Shakespeare UL and when I would set the hook it was like no power at all and I lost a lot of fish because the hook would not set for me. Anyway this rod for $40 is a steal I’m probably going to order the UL just because it’s so good and cheep. Tight lines everyone
So I was river fishing a couple of days ago and I caught a few nice smallies. I hooked into what I felt like was a big fish. I had no t on for a second and it threw the hook. Came back today and threw at the spot where I hooked him. I got him again only to loose him to a crappy knot apparently. I just re-spooled with 6# J-Braid 8 grand. Anyway I’m kinda pissed because I think it was a 3-4 lb smally. In my river that’s huge. So what is a good knot for this ultra thin braid
So on a lot of spinning rods the handle weather cork or other material is often behind where the reel sits. I find this really strange since my hand would never be there while using my rod. This is a dobbins rod. On the shimano Expride it is in front of the reel where you would actually hold onto the rod. Which is why I use an Expride. I have never seen anyone fish, holding their rod back there unless they were like new and never taught any better. Most people hold their reel between their pinky and 3rd finger or split between middle and 3rd finger or completely in front of the reel seat. So I don’t understand why they waste weight putting a handle back there.
