JDM Floating Wasp Restock on Joey Ultralight

The JDM Floating Wasps have officially been restocked on the website!

These handcrafted topwater baits are some of my personal favorites, and every time I get them in, they disappear fast.

This is a small restock, and the last batch sold out in less than 2 days. If you’ve been waiting to grab one, now’s the time.

Daiwa Rods via Amazon

Within the past 3 days I’ve received from Amazon 5 Daiwa rods.

The 2-7’3” one pieces were well packed,
The 3-7’ two piece were well packed,

But the 1-6’6” Daiwa Presso Ultralight rod arrived only in a thin plastic bag. And although I ordered 2 of these rods they were shipped separately. Yesterday unsurprisingly Amazon advised the 2nd Presso was damaged in shipping and they would cancel/refund one rod.

I reordered but not feeling optimistic I’ll receive the rod undamaged. Has anyone had issues like this from Amazon before?

Thank you!

Rate / Critique my First Ultra Light Set Up

7’0” Canyon Creek “Super Ultra Light” Rod paired with a Daiwa Crossfire LT1000 reel.
Lure weight rated for 1/64th to 1/8th ounce.
Line weight rated for 2-6lbs.

I put 10lb braid on as the main line. I got 4lb fluorocarbon yesterday for my leader line but I lost like 4 of the lures I bought ( they all broke off ) so I ditched the 4lb fluorocarbon. The only other thing I had on hand was 17lb fluoro so I slapped that on, but I’m deffo going to get some lesser strength fluorocarbon. I just don’t trust myself to not lose lures on something as light as 4lbs.

I’d never heard of Canyon Creek until I went to Dunham’s yesterday, but people have caught ( allegedly ) 22lb carp on it so I’m sure it’ll be good for me.

My only issue with the rod itself is that it’s a 2 piece and ever since I put it together yesterday, I have NOT been able to separate them lol

But that isn’t too big of an issue. Just slightly annoying. I wanted to keep it in my car so I could go fishing whenever an opportunity presented itself.

Thoughts?

Don’t mind me, just going to throw some Zman micro finesse plastics on my UL for some bluegill aaaaand congrats it’s a catfish.

Been using the fuck out of the zman micro finesse soft plastics. This bad cat hit a 1/32 jig head with a zman baby baller. Imagine my panic when I realized “wow this isn’t a bluegill” and proceeded to fight this thing for 5 minutes because this rod has 4lb test mono on it. Love the fight that catfish put up, but I always hope I never hook one. I hate how difficult it is to handle them.

After 49 casts, I caught this guy, ending my skunk streak for the month

I've been quite busy lately, with very little time to go fishing. I'm grateful that today's small fish ended my month-long dry spell. So far, I've cast 70 times, with a catch rate close to 1.4%—pretty good results (the small fish has already been released).

Handing Magic L

Just got the 6’ Handing magic L spinning rod off of Aliexpress. in light power. Only like 40$. I really like it. It is a very sensitive rod. I wish I would have gotten the UL power instead. I was hesitant to go UL because I have a 4’6” micro series from Shakespeare UL and when I would set the hook it was like no power at all and I lost a lot of fish because the hook would not set for me. Anyway this rod for $40 is a steal I’m probably going to order the UL just because it’s so good and cheep. Tight lines everyone

Light rod suggestions

I'm in northern Ontario and fish from shore, I catch lots of small bass and walleyes and recently found a spot with a lot of perch and rock bass and baby walleyes and small mouth. I'd still like to be able to handle a half decent 2 lb bass or walleye if I hook one though. Looking to get a light or ultralight rod setup for 150 CAD or ideally less. I'm gonna use something like a Shimano sienna 1000 reel which would put me back about 50, so I'm hoping to find a decent rod for under a hundred for this setup. Considering Shimano stimula UL or potentially Shakespear wild series but kind of nervous about the quality. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated thanks.

Would this be a good investment or upgrade?

I have a 5ft Shakespeare micro series rod and president reel that have served me pretty good. I have landed a lot of fish and love the short size but I was thinking something half a foot longer and maybe abit faster action would be nice for more sensitivity and better casting.

Stopping to check out a small pond and…

Caught this guy on my lews mach lite with this rigged weedless with a pinch weight on top. Saw em chasing Sunny’s and tossed this in his face. What a fight!

How can you not love ultralight?

"Regular" rods feel so lifeless to me at this point. River wading last weekends results. All these fish put up good fights. Life is good, tight lines friends.

Does not get much better than this

Trout magnet under a small float on a Pflueger President
Reel and 5 foot Shakespeare micro series rod.

Pretty happy with the rod but was thinking of trying something that five food and a half and maybe abit more stiff.

My ultralight set up and some catches

Rod: Daiwa Aird-X ULFS 5’6”
Reel: Daiwa Crossfire LT 1000
Line: 6lb Braid -> 4lb flouro

Rate the setup, and I’d appreciate any additional lure recommendations.
