Broken rods

So I have broken two ultralight Okuma rods. First the celilo and now the spinning A Kokanee rod.

What the hell am I doing wrong and what UL spinning rod should I get from DSG. I have a warranty gift card coming.

Frustrated for sure but… it’s all good. Getting a new fishing stick is always fun.

Edit: got the “what I’m doing wrong” part figured out. Now I just need some good recs under $100 for a UL spinning rod. What are yall running?

First Summer as a Fisherman

I have gone fishing earlier in my life, but just a handful of times without any serious interest. This summer was my first summer having actually invested myself into fishing. I’ve decided that I like ultralight. I’m starting to learn what fish are looking for in different spots around me. Throwing a lot of neds and micro topwater presentations.

UL fishing is really fun

After switching to UL set up and buying micro baits on AliExpress been very fun. I’ve never caught so many fishes back to back. Even using worm and bobbers dont catch much.

First high end ultralight setup recommendations

So I’m a pretty well versed bass fisherman, I fish lots of JDM (megabass, geecrack, deps, etc), but what’s been catching my eye recently has been ultralight fishing, specifically creek fishing. I already own a bfs setup (expride bfs and a curado bfs) so I was hoping for some JDM ultralight recommendations, budget would be around $600. I’ve had my eye on the new megabass levante coming out or the phenix bfs rod, and a Diawa airity reel but I’d be open to anything really

Thanks yall!!

Will a Dock Runner give me the idea?

I want to give some kind of ultralight system a go but didn’t want to go out and buy a new rod and reel if I got something that’ll be good enough. I got a spincaster ugly stik dock runner.
If I put some 4 pound fluoro on it and a 1/32 oz jig head will that be close enough to an actual set up or will I just be cheating myself out of the experience? My other option was going to be spending about $60 on some of the budget setups I’ve seen on here.

Edit: I ended up getting a Shakespeare ultra light 4’6” rod and a abu Garcia Blackmax 750. We’ll see how it goes this weekend. Thanks for all the advice in the comments!

First rainbow trout on my ultralight set up

Hit up the Niangua river in southwest Missouri. So much fun fishing for these guys. Caught on a rooster tail.

UL on the Chicago Riverwalk

Lived here all my life and this was my first time trying this spot. Caught 5 bass on a drop shot in about an hour. Nothing big but had a great time.

Trout magnets under bobbers for kids?

Got back into fishing after 20+ years because my kids wanted to go, but we usually get night crawlers each time we go out. I am having a blast and decided to go all in on an Ultralight setup and got some trout magnets along with some other stuff.

Can my kids catch fish with the trout magnets under bobbers just like a night crawler? It would be nice not to have to get night crawlers every time we want to fish a little.

Edit - We are mostly fishing for Bluegill on lakes/ponds

Would a baitcaster work on this spare rod?

I have a spare rod left over after the reel failed for my son.

It's a cheap Zebco 33 Cork, 5ft, Ultra Light, Line Weight: 2-6lb, Lure Weight: 1/64-1/4oz
33ckstc502ula - https://www.zebco.com/en/shop/combos/33mccorkcmb?srsltid=AfmBOopcOsW6uvD0jRyP6bF8FkMqsX48ZvaB0SqaQhupa7p3TvRKyVIg

Could I swap out the failed reel with a baitcaster to try out a baitcasting rig? If so, any recommendation on a high value light tackle baitcaster reel?

Cant decide on wether to get the 5"6 or 6"6 13 fishing defy silver ul

I do all kinda of fishing, creek, rivers, ponds, and lakes. I have an okuma celilo in 6ft and 6"6. I prefer my 6ft so I wish that they made it in a 6ft byt because they dont what would be the next best option. Ill also be paring it with a shimano sienna 1000 and going after panfish and small bass

First time out full ultralight, and I shouldn't have waited this long

Recently returned to fishing after taking a 20 year break due to life, work, and other things.

All my old gear was for river fishing, and lake fishing, with nothing being strung with anything less then 10lb test, and rigged to try and go after bigger fish.

The thing that brought me back, besides a need to find something to help with stress, was having a bunch of ultralight fishing videos pop up on my YouTube feed, and realizing I'm spoiled for fishing spots where I currently live.

Been going out the past little bit with my old gear, and have bought some new dock rods, but had only managed to get a few fish until this morning.

Decided to go full ultralight with a Shimano Stimula 5'6", and got myself a Shimano Sienna 1000 spooled with 4lb test, and on the advice of the local tackle shop - 2 Rapala 1/16th oz crankbaits.

Within 2 hours I caught 25 fish, and for the first time I was able to feel every nibble and strike from panfish I was going after.

It was the best 2 hours of fishing I've ever had, and I'm hoping to have many more.

Excuse the pun, but I'm now fully hooked on ultralight.

Recommendations for tiny crankbaits

Looking for crankbaits for panfish.
Zero experience. I currently use trout magnets, Mule Fishing soft plastics etc.

Want to expand my horizons.
Suggestions welcomed.

Edit: Thanks to all who responded. I am now armed with a great list.
