What creature type do you wish got a dedicated commander or more typal support in general?

I am still baffled to this day that there isn't really a dedicated Skeleton commander, considering how long the type has been around. The closest think we have to a Skeleton typal commander is Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist, but it doesn't feel like skeleton typal.

I'd also, on a personal note, like an Orc typal commander. I just like orcs.

What are some of Minecraft's biggest fundemental flaws.

From a fundemental game design perspective. Could be about anything from the crafting system, movement, world generation, item progression, items, combat, enchanting. Anything is up for discussion.

I thought it could be an interesting discussion topic, and I'm hoping we can have an honest, civil discussion.

When has making something take more time improved a game?

I often see folks lament simpler, less convenient times, especially when talking about MMOs like WoW and Runescape. They prefer when the game was slower paced, took more time, wasn't as full of things to do. And as the games have gone on they've generally gotten faster and given the players more to do each time they log in.

But I struggle to think of exampled of a game that intentioanlly made a change to make a part of it slower and less convenient.

So I wanted to ask. What are some examples of games chaning something to make something take more time, be less convenient, be slower paced... and it improved the game?

What are some of the WORST possible story developments/twists/endings One Piece could do?

For me it's anything to do with time travel. Luffy being sent back in time at the end and being Gol D. Roger or Joy Boy is so dumb.

Examples:

  • Goku (Dragon Ball) - This is probably where this trope comes from. For some reason, nobody besides Goku is EVER allowed to defeat the big bad. Arc after arc, even if the story is about somebody else, Goku has to be the one to defeat the final boss. The movie Resurrection 'F' is probably the WORST example of this, where they literally have to contrive the planet blowing up and Whis rewinding time (a power i'm prettu sure he never used again) just so that Goku could get the final blow on the bad guy. He could have just stopped Frieza from blowing up the earth and let Vegeta get his catharsis but no. Hell, get Krillin to send a Kienzan that chops off Frieza's hands and stops him from doing it, give both of them some catharsis and prove how strong Krillin is as well. It's so forced it feels like some weird mandate, like some higher up has a rule that Goku NEEDS to beat the bad guy every arc. As far as I know, accross the manga and movies, the only time anyone besides Goku defeats the big bad is Gohan defeating Cell, and that's just because it was originally planned for Gohan to become the progagonist.
  • Luffy (One Piece) - I understand that Luffy is the strongest member of the crew throughout the majority of the story. But it still annoys me that so often Luffy has to fight other people's battles. An evil butler who'se a total opposite and thematic foil for Usopp? Nah don't let Usopp beat him, give him the hypnosis guy to beat. An arc introducing Sanji? Nah don't let him fight Don Krieg, have him fight Gin and this twat with pearls. Robin has been kidnapped by Cipher Poll? Who cares, Luffy has to fight Lucci. Especially with how long and how many foes the straw hats go up against, you'd think that every so often they'd let another member of the crew get the finishing blow, right? Give them a moment in the spot light. Again, it feels like there's some arbitrary rule that Luffy HAS to beat the big bad of every arc.

I asked folks before for ideas on the name and potential abilities. Now I have something I'm fairly happy with. I'd appreciate any feedback. Does the weapon seem fairly balanced? Is the wording for the abilities good and clear? Is the changing veils/forms clear?

For context, this is being made for my Monk, a level 10 Moon Soul monk (reflavoured Sun Soul, bascially just changes fire to cold damage).

Also wondering what folks think of the lore I wrote for it.

Thank you all for reading.

This is a first draft of the story and abilities for this weapon. Is it too weak? Is it too powerful? Does it need more abilities?

Also, in my world, every week is 10 days.

He's so multi-faceted it's hard to say.

For one he's folding his arms which shows a sense of authority and control, which is White.
But he's also wearing a clean blue shirt showing he cares about perfection, which is Blue.
But he also has a beard which shows his more natural, untamed side, which is Green.
But he's also smiling which is a very expressive, emotional thing, which is Red.
But he's also taking a picture of himself, showing he values himself, which is Black.

I just have no idea?! What do you guys think?

One of my players (A moon soul monk, reflavoured sun soul) will be going through a training arc, and in the end will recieve this magic item.

I haven't decided on what the spear can do, so any suggestions would also be nice.

Thanks :3 The link to the spear will be commented.

For me, I kind of like the idea of Smoker's change in theory. Yeah it looks weird most of the time, but the idea of someone whose always breathing out dark smoke does kind of go hard. I can imagine it looking very threatening and striking looking if it was done on purpose. I think the two cigars is better, but I don't mind the idea of what 4kids was doing. Changing his name to Chaser was kind of dumb though.

Luffy - The captain, the decision maker, the leader. This seems fairly obvious.

Nami - Without her they probably wouldn't have even gotten to Reverse Mountain, much less made it far afterwards. The ocean's a big, scary place, especially in the Grand Line, so Nami is absolutely intregral.
Sanji - The guy who makes sure everyone else is well fed with a balanced diet and doesn't die of scurvy.
Chopper - The doctor, again I think I don't need to explain this one much further.
Franky - It's a ship, if it sinks at least four people die immidiately. Keeping that thing up and running is absolutely integral to their success.

Usopp - In the early volumes Usopp and Nami did like 80% of the work in actually running the ship. Even today with Franky taking over shipwright duties, Usopp is so multi-skilled and creative he's still able to contribute greatly to the ship, even if it's just maintenence.
Jimbe - I mean they made it 75% of the way through the grand line without a dedicated guy who steers the boat, but it's still nice to have someone like that especially as the waters of the Grand Line become ever more trecherous.

Zoro - Yes he's the vice-captain but let's face it, Zoro doesn't do jack shit to run the ship. He mostly just drinks, trains and has squabbles with the cook. Yes he's their "swordsman" but everyone on a pirate ship should be able to fight.
Robin - No ship needs an archeolegist. She probably helps with the gardening but probbaly not much else.
Brook - He's there for the vibes, keep spirits high. Honestly probably contribues more than Zoro or Robin honestly but I have them in chronological order.

Vivi - Isn't even on the bloody boat.

How tall do you think the turtles should be generally? And how do you think the turtles should stack up in terms of height? Who do you like being the tallest, shortest etc?

When the most effective way to play a stealth game is also the most boring.

The best game I can use as an example is Dishonoured. In that game, if you're going for the non-lethal playthrough, then you don't get to use like 75% of your tools and powers, because the majority of them are lethal. So all the time while i'm going through the game i'm just thinking "This would be so much better if I just went lethal."

Or in some stealth games, what's the point of finding ways to skirt around the enemies and duck behind cover when I can just kill them and permenantly remove the problem.

Does this make sense? Either you use the most effective tools and the game's boring, or you try to play it more low-key and it's either too hard or too complicated. Why should I have to force myself to play in the most interesting way?

This isn't a problem in all stealth games. The batman arkham games just have entirely non-lethal takedowns so it's not a problem there. And the Hitman games are entirely designed around and heavily reward only killing your targets, and still give you plenty of interesting ways to non-lethally take someone out.

What do you think? Have you felt this weird dychotemy before? Or am I too concerned with doing things "efficiently"?
