Jack of all trades vs. master of one, sino ba talaga ang mas malayo ang mararating?

Lagi kong naririnig na "jack of all trades, master of none" as an insult, pero yung buong quote pala ay "...but oftentimes better than a master of one."

[Hiring] Growth and Marketing Technology Specialist - $1000-$1600

About the Role

This isn't a traditional marketing role.

We're looking for someone who enjoys figuring things out.

Someone who sees a manual, repetitive task and immediately starts looking for a way to automate it.

You'll work directly with the founder to grow both sides of the marketplace — using AI, no-code automation, and smart marketing to bring contractors and homeowners onto the platform and keep them active.

No two weeks look the same.

One week you may be building an automated outreach sequence with a no-code tool.

The next you could be setting up an AI workflow to qualify leads, designing a content engine for social, building a simple dashboard, or testing a new channel to find users faster.

If you enjoy learning and love making things run on their own, this role will never become repetitive.

------

What You'll Be Doing

- Drive growth on both sides of the marketplace — contractors and homeowners
- Build and automate outreach and marketing workflows using no-code tools
- Use AI to speed up research, lead qualification, content, and follow-up
- Set up and manage CRM and marketing automation (sequences, triggers, tracking)
- Grow and run our social channels with a repeatable content system
- Find, test, and scale new channels to acquire users
- Build simple reports and dashboards to track what's working
- Document the systems you build so they can scale to new cities
- Research new AI and automation tools and recommend what to adopt

------

What We're Looking For

We're far more interested in attitude and ability than a perfect résumé. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply

The ideal person is:

- Naturally curious
- Loves solving problems and removing manual work
- Highly organised
- Comfortable learning new software fast
- Not afraid of technology or AI
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Takes ownership instead of waiting for instructions
- Goal-driven and focused on outcomes
- Analytical and enjoys working with data
- Always looking for a faster, smarter way to do things
- From Manila preferred and be able to cowork in person once a week

------

Technical Skills

Experience in some (not necessarily all) of the following is highly desirable:

- AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini
- No-code automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n or similar)
- Marketing platforms and email/outreach tools
- CRM platforms and pipeline management
- Social media management and content tools (Canva, schedulers)
- Reporting, analytics, and dashboards
- List-building / prospecting tools (Apollo, Hunter or similar)

Bonus points if you've:

- Built AI workflows or agents
- Connected AI tools with no-code automations
- Created an automated lead-gen or content engine
- Used AI to improve processes rather than just generate content
- Worked with U.S. clients, home services, or marketplace/startup growth

------

Who Will Thrive Here

You'll love this role if you enjoy:

- Learning something new every week
- Automating away repetitive work
- Building systems that scale
- Finding efficiencies and better channels
- Working with AI and no-code tools
- Turning ideas into working processes
- Watching numbers grow because of something you built

[IT] I have a delimma in my new work about deliverability of task

I have a dilemma at my new job about the deliverability of tasks.

Before me, there was a developer (not from the Philippines) who originally built the platform, a web-based app.

Yesterday was my first day, and I committed 2 PRs. They look very small, but they have a major impact on the platform, because I figured them out myself and with AI helping me code faster.

Just now, though, I saw a single one-shot update of 150+ files, clearly done by AI using Cursor. I tested the web app and noticed an error right away.

The project has no E2E, integration, or unit tests. It also has no environment with data that can be used to test the platform.

Moving forward, the old developer wants us to meet to discuss ideas and other things. My worry is that if I share my ideas with him, he'll just one-shot them with AI again, and I'll lose the hours I'm supposed to spend actually thinking and building things.

So I messaged the owner and told him that if this is how it's going to go, I won't really be able to do my work, I'll just be giving ideas and recommendations that anyone could then execute.

That's how we will be replaced by AI and those who are using AI, by giving them your idea and strategy.

How do you handle things like this even in non-IT niche?

Technical founder looking for a business cofounder (I build, you grow)

I'm a developer and I've spent 1-week building TCGMarket PH - a buy/sell/trade/auction platform for Pokémon, One Piece TCG, and other collectible card games in the Philippines.

The product is real and already running. Here's what's live or near-complete:

Platform features

 • Listings with condition grading, foil/first-edition flags, photo upload
 • Live auctions with real-time bidding, anti-snipe protection (auto-extends when bids land in the last 30 seconds), and automatic close
 • Make an offer / counter-offer flow
 • In-app messaging so buyers and sellers never have to share personal numbers
 • Collection tracker - log your cards, track estimated value, organize by folder; useful even if you never transact
 • Wishlist with price alerts - get notified when a card you want gets listed
 • Seller reputation system with post-deal ratings
 • Identity verification (KYC) + phone verification for seller trust
 • Admin panel - dispute resolution, user management, listing takedowns
 • PWA (installable on mobile like a native app)
 • Bulk listing tool and CSV import for serious sellers

Early MVP (not yet production-ready): https://tcgmarket.ph

On infrastructure costs

Running lean is intentional - this isn't a cash-burn play. Here's the realistic monthly infrastructure picture:

Stage Monthly est.
Early (free tiers, <500 users) ~$30–60/mo
Growing (paid tiers, 1k–5k users) ~$150–300/mo
Scaling (10k+ users, real traffic) $500–1,500+/mo

Variable costs on top: PayMongo charges per transaction (~2.9% + ₱15), KYC verifications are per-user, and SMS (Semaphore) is per message.

The early costs are manageable out of pocket. At sub-500 users, most services sit comfortably on free tiers - we're talking ~$30–60/month. Scaling costs only kick in when there's actual traction, at which point a small pre-seed raise or revenue share should cover it. We're not going to need a big check to get going, but if this gets real traction fast, having an investor relationship ready matters.

What I'm looking for

The hard truth about marketplaces: I can build the best platform in the country and it's worthless empty. Cold-start liquidity and community trust are the actual product. Code I can do. That part I can't do alone.

I'm looking for a co-founder to own:

 • Community & growth - Discord, Facebook groups, LGS partnerships, influencer/content-creator relationships in the PH TCG scene
 • Seller acquisition - getting the first 50–100 verified sellers onboard who make the marketplace worth visiting
 • Monetization strategy - when and how to flip from free (listing fees = ₱0 right now) to sustainable
 • Marketplace partnerships - hobby stores, distributors, tournament organizers
 • Investor relations (optional but a plus) - if we want to accelerate

Ideal background: knows the PH TCG/hobby community, has done growth, community management, or e-commerce before, or has run any kind of marketplace or buy-sell group. You don't need to be technical but you need to be obsessed with this space.

The deal: early stage, equity split (negotiable based on what you bring), no salary yet. This is sweat equity. I'm in it for the long game.

If this resonates - comment or DM. Happy to connect and explore how we might be a great fit.

[Discussion] Would you use a dedicated, custom-built Buy/Sell/Trade & Auction platform for Pokémon TCG in the PH? 🇵🇭

https://preview.redd.it/rxtjucs01k8h1.png?width=1640&format=png&auto=webp&s=aad9968d7e5b3cd417e63ff1f4b90673bd6d8624

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get the community's honest opinion on something I’ve been thinking about building.

Like many of you, I love the Pokémon TCG scene here in the Philippines. But let's be real, the current ecosystem for buying, selling, trading, and bidding is pretty chaotic. Right now, we are entirely reliant on a mix of platforms that were never actually built for TCG collectors:

 • Facebook Groups: It’s the main hub, but it’s completely unorganized. Auctions get lost in the feed, tracking bids is a headache, and dodging scammers or joy reservers is a daily chore.
 • Shopee/Lazada: Flooded with fake cards, confusing listings, and scalpers pricing sealed products at 2x-3x MSRP.
 • Carousell: Okay for singles, but searching is clunky and there is zero community feel or competitive pricing standard.

Because our market is so scattered, it feels like our ecosystem isn't growing as competitively or safely as it could be compared to other countries that have dedicated TCG marketplaces (like TCGPlayer or Cardmarket).

The Idea: I am looking into building a custom, centralized web platform specifically dedicated to the PH Pokémon TCG community.

Here is what I’m imagining:

 • Organized Marketplace: Filter singles by Set, Rarity, Condition (NM, LP, HP), and Language (English/Japanese).
 • Built-in Auction System: No more "up" or "+100" in Facebook comment sections. A real, timed bidding system with anti-snipe protections.
 • Trade Board: A dedicated section where you can list your "Haves" and "Wants" to find local trading partners easily.
 • Community Trust & Safety: A verified seller system, transparent seller ratings, and a clear guide on current local market prices to prevent severe scalping or overpricing.

My questions for you all:

 1. Is this something you would actually use, or are people too loyal to Facebook groups?
 2. What are your biggest frustrations right now when buying/selling cards online?
 3. What features would a dedicated PH platform absolutely need to have to make you switch over?

I really want to build something that helps the hobby grow locally, but I want to make sure it's actually solving a problem for us first. Let me know your thoughts!

A bit about me: Full transparency, right now, I am a developer looking to build this out as a personal passion project. However, if there is anyone out there with business, marketing, or community-building experience who might be interested in teaming up as a co-founder to actually commercialize and scale this, I am very open to a partnership!

Pivot to AI and Automation as a VA

Marami rami din ako nababasa dito na gusto matuto or magupskill to AI and Automation as a VA kasi yun na ang trend ngayon.

Napaiba man ang niche nila, halimbawa ecommerce, educational, services at iba pa.

Email

Team Communication Platform

Office Collaboration Suite

Workflow Automation Platform

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Content Management System (CMS) / Website Builder

Digital Signature Platform

Help Desk / Shared Inbox

Chatbot Builder / Conversational Form

Autonomous AI Agent Framework

Seeking a US-based Sales/Marketing Partner for a Remote Job Platform

I’m a developer who loves building products, but I’ve hit the classic builder's wall: I don't know how to sell it.

I just finished building RemoteReady.ph, a job board specifically focused on helping businesses find remote professionals in the Philippines. I know a lot of US small businesses are actively looking to hire global remote talent right now to scale affordably, so the demand is there, but my outreach and sales skills are non-existent.

I’m looking for a US-based partner to handle the sales and marketing side of the project. I want to pass the baton on customer acquisition so I can dedicate 100% of my time to the development side and making the platform the best it can be.

I am also open to turning this job marketplace into an outsourcing agency, whichever you prefer. Currently, there are over 1,000+ registered job seekers on the platform.

bakit kelangan ng voice recording or video recording.

I did the math on a point-based job board. If there are 300 Virtual Assistant jobs, here are your actual odds of an interview.

I was looking at a job platform's point system (10,000 active users (unemployed), 60 points max, 5 points per app = 12 apps max). If you are looking for a specific role, like a "Virtual Assistant", and there are 300 VA jobs available, how hard is it actually to land an interview?

The math changes completely based on how many of those 10,000 users are in your niche. Here is the breakdown.

Scenario A: The VA Market is Saturated (Worst Case)

Let's assume Virtual Assisting is extremely popular on this platform, and 50% of all users (5,000 people) are applying for those 300 VA roles.

 • Total VA Applications: 5,000 people × 12 apps each = 60,000 applications.
 • Applicants Per Job: 60,000 apps ÷ 300 jobs = 200 applicants per job.
 • Odds Per Job: Assuming 5 interview slots per job, your chance is 5/200 = 2.5%.
 • Overall Odds (12 apps): If you max out your points, you have roughly a 26% chance of landing at least one interview.

Scenario B: A Realistic Spread (Average Case)

Normally, users are spread across many categories (engineering, design, writing, admin). Let's assume a more realistic 20% of users (2,000 people) are competing for those 300 VA jobs.

 • Total VA Applications: 2,000 people × 12 apps each = 24,000 applications.
 • Applicants Per Job: 24,000 apps ÷ 300 jobs = 80 applicants per job.
 • Odds Per Job: 5 interview slots / 80 apps = 6.25% chance.
 • Overall Odds (12 apps): If you use all 12 of your applications, your chance of getting at least one interview jumps to 54%.

What this actually means for you

If you are applying for a specific niche like a VA, the point limit works in your favor by keeping the "spam" applicants out of your category.

However, VAs often have a lot of overlapping skills, making it harder to stand out on a resume. Even in the "realistic" scenario where you have a 54% statistical chance of getting an interview, you still need to beat 75 other people for a single job.

TL;DR: Your odds of getting an interview for a niche role like a VA are somewhere between 26% and 54%, depending on how saturated the platform is with other VAs. To beat those odds, you need to use your 12 applications on jobs where you have a specific, unfair advantage (like prior experience in the client's specific industry).
