Wondering if this bioluminescence situation was real or not.

I tried to post this earlier but it was removed because the question wasn’t specific, so I’m explicitly asking if bioluminescence can actually look the way I am describing.

Last night in my hometown of Los Osos, CA (the inside of Morro Bay) during an extremely high tide, I decided to take a dip in the bay late at night. The bay isn’t always advisable to swim, but I do it pretty frequently. There was a lot of fish/marine activity I could hear in the form of splashes. There was also a lot of dead seaweed, and again, very high tide. I was amazed to realize it was glowing with bioluminescence!!! Full disclosure, I had ingested psychedelic mushrooms that evening, but I don’t think that was causing what I was seeing.

I’ve seen bioluminescence before and understand roughly what is going on. My main curiosity is regarding the TYPE of glow, and when I described this to friends they wrote it off as a hallucination.

The glow was super spotty. Almost like mirror ball reflections. And unlike classic red tide conditions I’ve seen, violent agitation didn’t cause it to glow. A gentle swoosh yielded the best effect. It also didn’t appear to be fully abundant in all the water, but mostly on the surface in the ‘froth’ of all the dead seaweed stuffs. The coolest part was slowly walking and the wake my body made was filled with all these glowy dots. It reminded me of art by one of my favorite artists ever, Yayoi Kusama.

Is this type of bioluminescent glow a real thing, or am I, as friends have told me, just trippin. Thank you, and isn’t the ocean the best?!?

Why are they called vinyls?

I know everybody calls their grails vinyls, but I’m confused as to why. Isn’t it just one vinyl per vinyl? Or is each of those circle things with the music inside it a separate thing of vinyls? I am too scared to ask the rude guy at the record section of target so I thought the kind people of the internet might be able to politely provide me with the answer.

Skaters?

Any skaters going to high sierra? I’m so excited to scope the new grass valley park. Bringing my bicycle to get to the park. Gonna try to go as many mornings as I can muster. Reach out if you wanna join! (Also I’m non-discriminate, skateboards skates scooters bikes pogo sticks parkour whatever, let’s break a sweat to earn those late night beers!). So excited to boogie with everybody. Gonna have my cruiser to skate around the fairgrounds too. Peace!

How do y’all display your denim sleeves?

I picked one up six months ago and its absolutely gorgeous but it‘s too big to fit in normal LP frames.

I’ve seen people making custom drawers and stuff to show them off so I’m curious how everyone has displayed theirs!

Lids for steel pint glasses?

Haas anybody found a good lid for those steel festival pint glasses? Most I have are the kleen kanteen or similar models. A festival I go to (shout out High Sierra) will give discounts on beer with that type of cup…only that type of cup. I’m always spilling on the dancefloor or spilling on my shirt when I do the elbow-tuck to clap.

Kleen kanteen has a coffee sipper style, or a straw version. I’m looking for something that would have no holes on top. It isn’t that big of a hassle to remove the lid to take a sips. (I feel the same when it comes to finding coffee cups with a solid-state lid without a sippy spout. They don’t seem to exist anymore.)

I’ve been searching and it seems like something that doesn’t exist. If anybody has seen this or has a solution they like, please shout it out!

New song guesses?

I have a guess that the jam in Mirage City from Albuquerque ‘24 might be a new tune. The first time I listened I thought “wow that’s a cool little adlib”. But on my second listen I realized how developed it was and that Stu knew what was happening and wasn’t just improvising along with Ambrose. I could see that fitting with the Billy Stings/bluegrass vibe. Anybody else have any predictions?
