Where to learn Mandarin in Jozi?

Hey guys,

Looking for something fun to do with my wife on a weekly basis. I also think being able to communicate with Chinese business partners will be a great way to expand my career.

Anyone have any institutions they would recommend?

Id prefer in person lessons Vs online, but online can work too.

CW Vs Modulated signal for hardware testing?

Hey everyone.

I work in a production testing environment where we test the hardware performance of our products for QA.

The standard convention when testing our RF specific electronics(modem, ble etc), is to have our device blast a carrier wave and measure the strength of the signal with an external measurement tool(CMW500).

I'm doing some investigating to see if there is any benefit in doing an additional test with a modulated signal from our device instead of a CW. I'm no RF expert, not even a little, and RF is still mostly confusing to me, so I was hoping to lean on people with more knowledge.

With a CW, we are able to measure the output power and frequency variance of our DUT, so we can test that the output power and ppm tolerance is within an expected range, which gives us enough confidence in our hardware. It's also more repeatable with a CW

With a modulated signal, what are some things that can be measured that would provide good insight into the hardware performance of our devices? I think measuring modulation quality and packet generation health would be good, but it feels like that is more firmware related, which is out of scope of what my teams does.

I would appreciate any insights, thank you very much.

Hey guys,

I've been using Fedora with KDE plasma on my professional laptop where I mostly code and work on nerdy tech projects. I loved it so much that I decided to use the same distro for my gaming desktop (Nvidia RTX 4080), and I believe I made a big mistake.

Just getting steam to even launch was such a massive pain in the ass it almost completely turned me off from Linux gaming. I liked the tinkering aspect of fedora, and trying to get things working was fun but I don't want to deal with the same hassle on my leisure pc when I just want to game. I really committed to moving away from windows so I don't want to give up just yet.

I know Bazzite is normally recommended for gaming, but I don't like the atomic nature of it, and while I do mostly want to use my desktop for gaming, I would also like to do some professional work on there occasionally (80:20 split). I'm not sure if there is a perfect distro for my needs, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Hey guys, I inherited a MacBook Pro M1, but I'm not a big fan of MacOS. I tried installing Asahi, first try was successful, but I ran into a dumb issue where my login credentials were not working.

I decided to reinstall Asahi, deleted the Asahi partitions in Disk Utility and started the install again, but I ran into this issue, and I have no idea what to do. Not sure if it's related to my handling of the partitions.
