Tried the de Venoge Princes Brut 4th Edition – what are your thoughts on this House?
Just opened a bottle of de Venoge Princes Brut 4th Edition.
On the palate, it’s quite refined, delicate, and floral. I can definitely appreciate the craftsmanship, but I have a bit of a history with this producer. Years ago, I tried a 1992 vintage from de Venoge, and honestly, it was just too intense and heavy for my liking.
Drinking this 4th Edition, I can clearly recognize that same 'base' DNA or house style, even though this one is significantly more delicate and elegant than the '92. However, I’m realizing that de Venoge probably won't become my favorite Champagne house. I feel like there are many other producers out there whose style suits my palate much better. I think I’ll likely be skipping this house in the future.
What are your opinions on de Venoge? Do you enjoy their style, or do you have other 'go-to' houses in this price range that you think are better?
