I posted a 9-second video and got 40k followers overnight

I started a finance/economics Instagram page while I was in university.

At the beginning, I was just posting content about things I was studying myself: finance concepts, economics, productivity, tips for finance students, how to get internships, business school advice, etc.

A few videos started blowing up, within a few months, I grew the page to around 20k followers, mostly students interested in finance careers, consulting, investment banking, and top universities.

That’s when some finance-related apps and startups started reaching out to me, most of them were targeting students too university prep programs, business schools, online finance courses, internship platforms, things like that. I started to look for UGC oportunities and after a few weeks I found on sideshift, a startup that helps students land internships at top universities. They offered a CPM deal, so you only got paid for the views of your video ($1 for 1k views). At the time, my best videos were getting up to 100K views, so I thought it was a great deal.

Their funnel was simple: 1- Give away a free PDF/course 1- Collect leads through Instagram comments, 2- give a free PFD/ Course, 3- Followup later with their internship program. Very organic for my page. I built a simple Instagram automation using Manychat connected to Instagram DMs, so every person commenting the keyword would automatically receive a DM with the free PDF and the access to the free course funnel.

I made a 9 second Reel and I wrote in the description something like: “comment FINANCE to get a free pdf” I posted it with medium expectations, I hoped it would get at least 50K views, but that single video exploded. Ended up hitting almost 10 million views and I gained around 40k followers. Less than a month later, the account crossed 100k followers. (today the page is sitting at around 400k followers)

The startup paid me $10K for that single reel and after seeing the results, they immediately signed a 1-year contract with me where I had to produce 4 Reels per month for them. (the total of this contract was around $60K + variable)

I've ADHD brain and I can't take notes in Uni

I don’t understand how some of my classmates can write full notes while listening to lectures at the same time

I'm in mechanical engineering and I still haven't figured this out, my brain can't organize information on the page fast enough, so my notes end up messy or incomplete. Sometimes I'll write one sentence, then realize I missed 2 minutes of the lecture because I was focused on that one line.

I've tried different note taking methods like cornell and mind mapping but none of them really work for me during lectures, especially when there's a lot of math and derivations moving fast on the board. I also tried recording every lecture on stuff like Turbo or whatever and turn them into summarized notes because I couldn't force myself to write everything down on my own.

Talked to my therapist about this recently, and she said it's common for ADHD brains to struggle with listening, processing, organizing, and writing all at the same time, which can make note taking really difficult.

I'm still having a hard time writing notes without the help of some tools and sometimes I ask classmates with good handwriting for their notes and take a photo of them so I can focus more on listening during class.

Does anyone else find it hard to take notes and listen at the same time, especially in technical courses? How do you manage note taking without losing track of the lecture?

AI Companions subscriptions are too high. Is there a good free alternative?

AI Companions subscriptions are too high. Is there a good free alternative? My basic instict when I use an AI companion is, do it feels like a friend? And we already have a problem if I need to pay. Who would pay for a frient? (rhetorical question). I would not anyway. But I live on the earth planet right and I know nothing is free but at least I don’t want to loose a kidney. Is there any AI Companion that is actually useful AND free???

Paris has a second city underneath it and nobody talks about it

Did you know there's a secret bunker hidden directly under the Eiffel Tower?

I’m in Paris and I keep thinking about what's under this city most people know about the catacombs with like 6 million skeletons, but that's like 1% of what's actually down there I opened Ward (a map with all the bunkers) this morning standing in front of the Eiffel Tower and there's a bunker marker literally under the south pillar. I investigate a bit and found out its a huge bunker, with narrow corridors, old military infrastructure, the kind of thing that shouldn't exist under the most photographed spot on earth LOL

Then I just started looking at the rest of the map, Gare de l'Est, several spots across the arrondissements, bunkers there's an entire parallel city underground that was built to survive things nobody wants to think about while they're eating a croissant Paris has something like 300km of tunnels beneath it and once you see the map you can't walk around normally anymore, every plaza, every famous landmark, you're thinking about what's underneath

I made 1.1K MRR with menopausal moms. Next project?

Yo what’s up guys, 21M from Italy here. I’m a TikTok creator doing mostly comedy skits about the classic situations between moms and their kids.

I almost reached 100K followers now with a few videos hitting several million views, so I figured it’s time to actually monetize my audience. Looking at my analytics, it’s 79% female and about 40% are 40+ years old, so naturally, I wanted to build something for moms. Last year I built a menopause app, I got some help from a family friend and I managed to scale it to €1.1K MRR. I stopped promoting it and MRR went down so I'm killing it off now (also there were several bugs). The first version was fully vibecoded in Cursor and I had zero experience so UX and UI were not very good, but I switched to Milq for V2 and it ran way smoother.

My plan now is to just keep shipping apps until I hit something with a good traction and then just focus on that project. Here are a few ideas I'm trying to validate. I’d like to hear what you guys think:

  • A vent app for moms: a space where they can share marriage or parenting struggles and get back comforting, supportive messages.
  • Conversational home task manager: Purely voice/chat-based. It builds workflows and sets recurring reminders (like for laundry or whatever) just by talking to it.
  • Mom-only social network: a private community where they can talk about their problems anonymously, with likes/comments, but with a strict verification filter so it’s ONLY moms.

What do you guys think? Any of these worth pursuing, any advice?

Is SonicJobs legit?

Hi guys. I am writing you to understand if anybody had the same experience. I applied more than 50-60 roles in the last month but I never got a single reply or confirmation email from any company. Neither rejections or an interview invitation. My guess is that they are all ghost jobs, because every listing is a duplicate of other jobs I see on Indeed and LinkedIn. I dont want to waste my time with these platforms.

Are those jobs real? any similar experience?

I built an alarm app that makes you complete a mission before it shuts up

Hey,

I created my app Wayk, an alarm app that forces you to complete a mission IRL to silence it. We're talking things like doing pushups, stepping outside to photograph the sky, making your bed, or whatever else gets you moving.

I built it because I was the world’s worst snooze abuser. I set 6 alarms and still somehow ended up being late, because I could turn them off with zero effort and go back to sleep. Wayk fixes that by making dismissal actually cost you something physical.

The missions are the core of it but the whole point is that you start your morning having already done something to wake up

So if you're someone who hits snooze until it's basically an emergency, give it a shot. Would love feedback from people who actually struggle with this
