For characters, in one of my fics I made Giovanni the uncle of the Alola protagonist (I had the idea of making him the elder brother of the protagonists' mom because they're both affiliated with the Meowth line), and they've just become inseparable in my mind. How relevant their familial connection would be depends on the story, in some it's a defining part of the protagonist's background and characterization, and in others they've never met, but the link is always there in my mind.

What is You Painted My Sky?

You Painted My Sky is my reboot of my old fic Pokemon Waxing Moon. I finally am in the headspace to write again, and this fic and these characters meant a lot to me so I wanted to go back and continue it, but I just couldn't. I'm planning to break up each Island into a separate story to make pacing better and hopefully not make starting them seem as daunting. The Melemele Island section of the story will heavily, but not solely, focus on time at the Pokemon School from the anime.

In addition to the themes that I loved exploring - family, both the ones we're born with and the ones we choose, what makes people who they are, dealing with having family you have a negative relationship with and/or mixed feelings about - Pokemon Waxing Moon needed to be rewritten. Rereading older chapters just felt off. I've grown so much as a writer since then, and because I wrote it without much of a plan the ideas I enjoyed working on most seemed to come out of nowhere, even if they stuck. As such I'm starting it over, learning from what came before, and implementing some of the ideas I hinted at but never used to their full capacity; like the protagonist's mom being a DJ. I'm also building more of a set-up for his conflict with his past.

This hasn't changed much in the reboot.

Sun dreams of greatness, of being a powerful and heroic trainer like his idols Red Tajiri and Ash Ketchum. Of hearing the crowd cheer his name like they did for his mother, the Scratch Cat Girl of Kanto. But he also wants to shake off his uncle's shadow. He's lived in the shadow of Giovanni's misdeeds since he was six years old. In Kanto, when most people looked at him all they saw was his uncle. But he's going to have to learn, that no matter how far he runs, and no matter how much he fights it, he is a lot more like his uncle than he'd like. But hopefully his family, and Lillie, can get it through his head that it matters more how he used the gifts he inherited than the fact he has them. After getting expelled from his trainer school for something he didn't even do, Sun is going to make the most of the chance Professor Kukui is giving him.

Lillie wanted out. She wanted to save Nebby too, make no mistake, but she also wanted to escape the madness that escalated inside her mother every day. The professors took her in, and Lei is like her baby brother, so she'll stand by her new family, no matter what.

They'll make new friends in Professor Kukui's pokemon school, including each other. Some may accompany them once their business on Melemele concludes. Others may not.

In the background, at least for the time being, figures in the dark plan their schemes.

I was on a road trip with my dad, and I heard a song while we were on the trip. I couldn't remember most of the lyrics and searching what I remembered got me nothing.

All I remember is something like "your tongue moves in the back of my mouth" and a woman was singing it. It was pop music by the sound, and the song was about the woman enjoying being intimate with her lover, who seemed to take the lead in the situation.

I don't feel like the musical is as accurate as people act like it is. Like it's way more accurate than the movie – and clearly has more love for the source than the movie – but outside of the songs the characters feel more like caricatures of the book versions, they still trim a lot of stuff down, and even leave things out. Like it's still clearly a labor of love, but people acted like it was the super accurate one-to-one adaptation we all always wanted and it just isn't that.

I know a lot of Boruto fans, me included, have looked forward to seeing what the world will look like after Omnipotence is undone, how it effects the people who realize they've been living a lie, Kawaki's reaction, etc. But I'm starting to wonder... Is it necessary? Boruto is slowly but surely earning the trust of people in Konoha through his actions, and Kawaki is losing their respect through his. Boruto is doing what his father did, both with Konoha, and the Tailed Beasts. Could it be possible that the series will end with Boruto reclaiming his place, not because Omnipotence is truly undone, but that his actions have just proved himself that much to the village and its citizens?

Further potential evidence: Eida has offered to try and undo it for Sarada and Sumire before, but they always abstained because all of them were worried it could make things worse.

I hate the ToA. I hated Apollo, and all of the new cast. I hated the Emperors, both as characters and antagonists.

I hated how all of the older characters were portrayed and utilized, except for maybe Frank. Piper and Jason's portrayal was especially egregious, and betrayed their prior developments, both as individuals and as a couple.

ToA felt like it was written for the people who hated HoO, which I find deeply insulting. For those of us who enjoyed what we got, it was a slap in the face as our characters got shredded to appease a vocal minority.

I'm working on a fic where part of the on-going plot is the characters attending Professor Kukui's Pokémon School from the anime. The goal is something very slice of life/childhood friendship that turns to romance when they grow up kind of thing, but I'm having trouble coming up with lessons that would be fitting. Aside from some of the ones I want to borrow from the anime, all I've been able to come up with is gathering berries and making note of what they all do; like how as kids we'd have to collect leaves and identity them. Any suggestions for things that would be setting appropriate and fun would be really appreciated!
