Just got my new EV5!

New to the EV5 club! 🥳 Just picked up my Kia EV5, coming from a 2021 VW ID.4 - my second ever EV. So far I’m loving it, and I’m getting around ~470 km estimated range with the AC on (64kwh). Excited to see how it holds up over time!

Going to buy an EV5 - what should i check

Going to buy an EV5

I'm going to check out a used 2023 EV5 Earth with \~40,000 km — what should I look out for?

I'm going to check out a used 2023 EV5 Earth with around 40k km on it. I'm obviously going to get it fully inspected by a third-party company (AutoScore here in Jordan) before buying, but I also want to know if there are any EV5-specific things I should personally pay attention to when I see/test-drive it.

Are there any known issues with the early cars, or anything specific I should check regarding the battery, charging, software, suspension, AC, interior, etc.?

Basically, what are the things you wish you'd checked before buying yours?

Any advice from owners would be appreciated.

(I know this is for the ev9 , but the ev5 community is basically offline)

Thinking about getting a new car

Thinking about getting an EV5, coming from an ID.4

I just sold my 2021 VW ID.4 X Pure 64kWh (China import) and I'm looking for my next car.

Right now I'm mainly looking at:

Kia EV5

Ioniq 5

EV6

And maybe the Rising R7, but honestly I'm probably not going for it. They've only really started becoming popular in Jordan recently and I'm not sure about reliability, parts and support yet.

The EV5 is the one I'm most interested in.

I went to see one today and I really liked it. It's funny because some of the smallest things stood out to me.

The bag holder, USB C for the rear seats, the trunk, and even having both 12V and USB A outlets. Coming from an ID.4, I really appreciate these practical little things.

It also has that feeling of some older German cars where they actually thought about small details and how people would use the car.

What I'm trying to figure out now is the stuff you don't really get from a test drive.

For EV5 owners:

What's the real world range you're getting?

I'm especially interested in highway driving around 100 to 120 km/h, mixed driving, and with AC on. I'm in Jordan so summer heat is also a factor.

I don't really care about the advertised range. I want to know what people are actually getting.

Also, what do you like and dislike about the EV5 after owning it?

Any problems, annoying things, software issues, charging issues, suspension, road noise, seats, AC, ADAS, interior quality, etc.

Basically, if you owned one for a while, would you buy it again?

And for anyone who's driven both, how does it compare to the Ioniq 5 or EV6?

I'm mainly looking for reliability, comfort, practicality and range. Not really interested in which one is faster.

Would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who actually own one.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm specifically looking at the Chinese-import EV5 Standard with the 64 kWh battery, as that's the version available to me in Jordan. The larger 84 kWh version isn't available here, so I'm mainly interested in real-world range/efficiency figures for the 64 kWh car.

[Question] Questions about HyperOS.

For people who have used HyperOS for 6+ months:

What issues actually started showing up over time?

I’m not asking about benchmarks or launch impressions- I mean real daily-use experience:

  • battery behavior
  • heating
  • random stutters
  • game optimization after updates
  • bugs/inconsistencies
  • background app behavior
  • overall smoothness long-term

Also, if your current HyperOS/Xiaomi/POCO phone disappeared tomorrow, would you buy another one again? Why or why not?

I’m trying to understand the actual long-term ownership experience, not just first impressions/specs.

POCO X8 Pro - Long term questions.

Hello Reddit,

I am considering purchasing the POCO X8 Pro (non–Pro Max variant), but I have come across mixed opinions online, and I would appreciate some honest, long-term user feedback before making a decision.

My usage pattern is relatively light and focused on everyday tasks. I primarily use my phone for social media (Discord, Instagram, Reddit), general apps, and occasional light gaming (nothing graphically intensive or competitive). Camera performance is not much of a priority for me.

What I would like to understand is not the short-term “out of the box” performance, but rather how the device holds up over time with real-world usage (approximately 3–5 years). Specifically:

  • Does the phone remain smooth and responsive after long-term use, or does performance noticeably degrade over time?
  • How reliable is HyperOS in the long run? I have read mixed reports regarding bugs, inconsistencies, and general software stability. Does it become more problematic with updates, or does it remain stable?
  • I have also heard about a required battery optimization or calibration process. Is this accurate? If so, what does it involve, and is it something users regularly need to do?
  • Is the MediaTek 8500 Ultra a genuinely capable long-term processor, or is its performance more of a short-term marketing highlight that does not hold up over time?
  • Does the device tend to overheat during normal use or light gaming, especially after extended ownership?

To be clear, I am not looking for benchmark comparisons or early launch impressions. I am specifically interested in real-world, long-term user experience and reliability over several years of ownership.

Thank you in advance for any detailed insights.
