I see a lot of posts here highlighting and only focusing on bad clients, low hire rate, low budget for big project jobs etc

The first time i heard of Upwork was in 2015 and IMO Upwork has improved in some things like the connects system reducing low-quality proposals but until this moment yes Upwork has its downsides like not punishing clients who post fake jobs, clients with low hire rate, clients who don't open proposals or not reapond to freelancers etc

So I'm wondering is it still worth finding jobs on Upwork in 2026? I know it might sound challenging competing with freelancers from 3rd world countries who would deliver the same results for lower rate but I'm inquiring about the platform in general

Cyber security has sparkled my interest in 2016, back then i installed Kali Linux and played a little with SE toolkit, terminal, Metasploit etc. i used to watch videos and tutorials from NullByte website and YT channel, i heard of bug bounty in 2018 but really had no idea where to start, i heard of TryHackMe in late 2021 and done The complete beginner learning path but after that i got a little busy and didn't continue with other tracks

However with the evolution of AI and that the pentesting field has got very saturated, even hiring companies require tons of skills and experience to land a junior level position, they require Web, API, network, and AD experience to land a junior position, I'm wondering is it too late to get into this field?

انا عندي 30 سنو خريج حاسبات ومعلومات خبرتي في المجال مش كبيرة اوي ومعايا مبلغ مليون جنيه فكرت في انحلترا بس المجال اللي انا شاطر فيه وهشتغله بيطلب حاحة زي تصريح امني لاني هشتغل في اماكن حساسة في الدولة والتصريح ده مش بيطلع غير بعد 5 سنين اقامة

مش عايز امريكا لاني شايفها دولة سيئة جدا بفكر في كندا بس نظام الاكسبرس انتري بيطلب سنة خبرة في مجال شغلك على الاقل لو حد عنده افكار وطرق للهجرة اكون شاكر جدا 🙏

Hello, I'm currently honing my skills to become a cyber security specialist, but I'm looking to do Linux & sysadmin jobs as a side hustle

I'm weak when it comes to networking and decimal/hexadecimal, octals and that kind of stuff, but I'm comfortable using SSH and I've built my own ubuntu server and played with it a little

But the kind of jobs that gets listed on upwork demands a different kind of work other than what I've learned.

If anyone could guide me to succeed in this field I'd be really grateful 🙏 I'm really passionate about breaking into this industry

انا اول مرة استخدم Linux في حياتي كان في 2016 بس سيبته عشان مكنتش فاهم فيه اوي، لكن مع زيادة الطلب عليه رجعت استخدمه تاني، انا استعملت اوبونتو واستعملت كالي وليا شوية في السايبر سكيورتي

لكن عايز اشتغل شغل سيستم ادمن عالاقل بس اجيب مصاريفي لكن بسيرش على الشغل المتعلق ب Linux بلاقي حاجات وشغل انا مش فاهم ايه المطلوب

الحاجات السهلة بالنسبة لي هي

Setup Ubuntu server, DNS configuration, SSH setup الخ

لو حد ياخد بإيدي ويحطني على اول الطريق اكون شاكر ليه جدا 🙏

I have been facing domestic violence since i was 4 years old and been getting hit by my father and my 13 years older sibling, when i was in high school i was so close to suicide, i went to business school didn't succeed, i switched to computer science and barely made it, but my skills and experience related to this field are very basic, i've been using computers since i was like 5 years old, i grew up in front of the screen, i had very over-protective parents, i was barely going out, i have very basic skills related to computer science and cyber security, but the job market is very brutal (in any field) if i managed to land an interview I wouldn't be able to explain the TCP/IP protocol or conduct a pentest, I have learning disability (dyslexia) and here I am 30M manchild living off parents money and they are 70 and 74 folks, if they die i'll end up a homeless begger.

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the support comments! They're really heartwarming! Yes my parents and older sibling are the ones to blame the most and yes i was set up for failure by them, it's reassuring to read your lovely comments!

طرق الهجرة المتاحة ليا حاليا هي عن طريق تأشيرة العمال المهرة بس مش هعرف اخدها الا لو اتبعت لي عقد عمل من هناك الاول، ولازم يكون عندي سنين خبرة وسابقة اعمال، بفكر اروح على تدريب بس بحثت وملقتش حاجة

الطريقة التانية عن طريق الدراسة ودي مكلفة جدا جدا، لو حد مهتم نشجع بعض ونتابع مع بعض يدخل يكلمني برايڤت

انا عامل تاتوهات منهم في اماكن ظاهرة والناس بتشك فيا دايما ويوميا بيسألوني انت مسلم انت مسلم انت مسلم؟ وبيتوجه لي اساءات واهانات ونبذ واضطهاد في كل مكان، انا فكرت اعمل لجوء ديني في كندا بس كندا ودول تانية بتشترط انك تكون موجود جوة البلد وتعمل طلب اللحوء من جوة، الشرط التاني وليس الاخير وده شرط صعب ان يكون عندك ادلة واثباتات انك بتتعرض لاضطهاد زي سكرينات او تسجيلات بتهديدات بالقتل او ما شابه، فلو حد عمل لجوء ديني ونفع معاه يقوللي انا الماديات مش مشكلة اوي عندي
