Finally Got a PC CRT Monitor for 480p Gaming!

Saw a good deal on an HP mx704 and pulled the trigger immediately. She’s in great shape and looks beautiful in person. This is the final stage of my retro corner in my basement- and I’m excited to play Dreamcast, Ps2, and Gamecube at 480p (my JVC D Series will handle all the 240p and 480i content). Really excited because I’ve never seen these systems output 480p in person.

I am waiting on my component vga transcoder so no game footage yet.

I’m also considering getting a displayport vga adapter to play some modern and retro pc games (elden ring and cyberpunk and silksong for fun to mess around and see how they look- tie fighter, diablo, starcraft, myth the fallen lords, dark forces 2 jedi knight, doom, quake, half life, freespace 2, duke nuke em —- playing those on a crt monitor in lower res would transport me back to when i was young playing pc games on my older brother’s pc 🙏)

Name your top 3 holy grail crts and the one you own.

So, for 240p i kinda have my grail already with my JVC D Series 27D503- but i would love to have a set that could display 480p for 6th gen consoles

Anyway my top 3:

  1. NEC xm29
  2. RCA mm36110
  3. Sony PVM 20L5

If you already have your grail, please share!

Finally Playing Policenauts the Way it Was Meant to be Played

I had no idea the little jingle during the Konami title screen in Metal Gear Solid 1 was actually the main title theme from Policenauts. So cool

FFX on a crt through PS2 Component

Still looks incredible after all these years. When it was still “Squaresoft” and all they did were magical things….

GBA on crt looks stunning

Pics don’t really do it justice. But the art in these games really shines through at 240p with real scanlines

Mac N Cheese Buffalo Chicken Bacon pie in the ooni!

This was a heavy one. It was touch and go in the ooni because it was sticking to the screen😫

But in the end, we prevailed- and the result was so awesome- but for a pie as heavy as this you can have only 1, maybe 2 slices at the most

2 day fermented dough, my homemade mac n cheese, made some buffalo chicken bites using hooters breading, crispy bacon which i made in the air fryer (incredible way to cook bacon) and then, the pièce de résistance, my secret recipe creamy buffalo sauce drizzled on top (ok, it’s just normal buffalo sauce mixed with blue cheese dressing 🤷‍♂️😂)
