My 19 year old son started having pain and bleeding in his gums. Got him into a private dentist (thanks NHS), and he has gum disease and also needs a night retainer. He flat out refuses to wear a retainer. He's got an appointment with a hygienist on weds. My problem is I don't think he's taking this very seriously or just doesn't care as he's still only brushing his teeth once a day if that. I keep going on at him to brush them but he just says Im nagging at him. I'm even going to see if I can get a message to the hygienist to give him a right talking to as he won't listen to me. I don't want him to lose his teeth and then say to me I wish I'd listened to you now. I know he's an adult but I don't know how I can get through to him.

My nearly 84 year old mother is physically a mess but shows no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. I've suffered mental, emotional and occasional (when young), physical abuse. She repeatedly ridiculed my appearance growing up, calling me fat and even told me the reason I didn't get a job was because I wasn't pretty enough. She has resented me doing anything or even knowing anyone, if she doesn't do it or know them herself. I've been getting increasingly tired of her but the last straw was her appalling treatment of my dying brother (who also despised her) going to bingo instead of being with him in the hospice amongst other things. Our last blow up was because she had the audacity to deny doing this. I have not seen her since Xmas day and never want to see her again, as quite frankly I can't stand her. Am I wrong for this? I don't know what is wrong but I feel she is mentally unwell or is she a narcissist? Her own mother abandoned her young and she never knew her father, which I feel might have contributed to this but why did my brother and I have to pay for it? I'm trying to be everything to my own kids that she wasn't, so why couldn't she?

Had new neighbours since April. Their TV, gaming and radio have been getting louder and louder since they've been here. I've been listening to her radio for last 4 hours and it sounds like it is in my upstairs. I've been turning my TV up to 26 when it's usually on 16 and I can still hear it. Any advice, except the unhelpful comments about move into the middle of a field.

Neighbours moved in good Friday, woman and teenage son. Spoke to her, took her bins in, took parcel in. I am already sick to death of their TV and radio noise. Even as I'm typing I'm listening to the TV at full pelt through the walls like it has been for the past 4 hours. The kid was outside with his basketball at 9pm, bouncing it and lobbing it at the recycling bin. I've wrote a note and will be putting it through the letterbox tomorrow morning and if it's ignored I'll be informing their letting agent. What can I do about this as it's affecting me now, I have to be at work for 4am tomorrow and I can't even go to bed because the noise is still going on.
