We’re 30 with 3 paid-off homes and 2 rental properties. How should we invest our surplus income moving forward?

My partner and I are both 30. Between us, we own five homes:
• Three are fully paid off.
• We bought two additional properties, one when I was 26 and one when I was 29.
• The rental income from those two properties currently covers their mortgage payments.

Our combined annual income is approximately €90,000. We are grateful to be in this position, but we want to make thoughtful decisions going forward rather than simply accumulating more property without a plan.

We would like to invest our remaining income wisely and build long-term financial security. We are open to ideas beyond real estate, such as diversified index funds/ETFs, pensions, bonds, or other relatively passive investments.

What would you recommend we focus on next? In particular:
• How much should we keep in cash for emergencies, repairs, vacancies, and unexpected property costs?
• Should we prioritize paying down the mortgages early, or invest excess cash elsewhere?
• How can we diversify so that we are not overly dependent on real estate?

Beginner Raspberry Pi homelab/network project ideas?

I’m looking for fun but genuinely useful beginner projects to run on a Raspberry Pi as part of my home network/homelab.

My first idea is Pi-Hole or AdGuard Home for network-wide DNS ad/tracker blocking. I like that it would also make me learn about DNS, static IP/DHCP reservations, and configuring my router.

I’m especially interested in projects that teach real networking/Linux/Docker skills, don’t need much extra hardware, and can stay useful long-term. What would you build first after Pi-hole?

Should I upgrade now or wait?

I’m for the EU. Currently on a 3060 Ti 8GB and honestly it’s starting to struggle, there are games I want to play that I basically can’t run properly anymore but I would still classify it as a WANT rather than a NEED.

Seeing 5070 Ti around €1,100 locally. 60 series is supposedly coming early next year (CES 2027-ish) but no one knows what prices will look like.

If you were in my spot:
• Grab 5070 Ti now at these prices just to be able to play what I want?
• Or wait for 60 series and risk similar/higher prices but maybe better performance long term?

Is buying from Amazon a good idea?

Hi, I am searching to buy some components and found some, such as a GPU and CPU, that are about 100 Euro less online than buying them locally. My question is, is buying from Amazon worth it when buying delicate components such as GPUs?

Edit: Also, is it worth buying used GPU’s. I found a listing for an RX 7800 XT for €450. Used for 1 year and about 300hrs of gameplay. He said he is selling because he switched to Nvidia for development work. Is it worth it?

UDM-SE or gateway + switch for a small UniFi home setup?

Hey guys, I’m planning a UniFi home network and I’m stuck between going with a UDM-SE or a gateway + separate PoE switch.

Setup would be:
• 5x G5 Turret Ultra cameras
• 1x U7 Pro AP
• maybe a NAS / desktop later on

Right now I’m looking at:
• UDM-SE as the all-in-one option
• UCG-Max + PoE switch as the more flexible option

The UDM-SE seems appealing because it’s basically everything in one box and I wouldn’t need to mess around as much with extra gear. The cost would also be around the same as well as I could get a very large HDD for a more reasonable price than a large SSD. On the other hand, the gateway + switch setup looks better for 2.5GbE, future expansion, and possibly a cleaner long-term setup.

For people who’ve used both:
• Is the UDM-SE actually the better choice for a small home setup?
• Or is it smarter to go gateway + switch?
• Any real-world downsides to the UDM-SE?

Is it worth watching?

I am a big fan of the original series and G but have never watched after those 2. Is the series good after G? For me the show peaked with the original series and G was pretty good at the start, so my question is, is the newer show after G worth watching as I want to get back into Vanguard.
