Error 0xc0000001 on cold boot (ASUS TUF A15 FA506NC)
Hi, I’m having a weird boot issue on my ASUS TUF A15 FA506NC (Ryzen 5, RTX 3050).
Problem:
I bought the laptop from a relative and i did a full reset immediately when I got it, this error started showing up but I didn’t think much of it for 2 days until it started being annoying(this never happened to him and laptop is around 6-7 months in use). On cold boot, the laptop fails to start Windows and shows error 0xc0000001 or acts like the SSD/boot device isn’t detected. If I press “Enter to retry” a few times, it eventually boots normally. Once it boots, everything works fine.
Restarting usually works fine — the issue is mostly on full shutdown → cold boot.
What I already tried:
- Tested with 2 different NVMe SSDs (same issue on both)
- SSD works fine in another laptop
- Clean Windows reinstall
- BIOS reset + full BIOS reflash/update
- Manually recreated UEFI boot entry (bootmgfw.efi)
- Tried different M.2 slot
- Checked BIOS settings (UEFI, Secure Boot, etc.)
- Ran diagnostics (including RAM test in BII also reseated RAM and I ran bcdboot commands aswell. Been researching on this error and trying stuff for 3 days now but still nothing.
From research and chatgpt it feels like an NVMe initialization / motherboard or UEFI timing issueduring cold boot rather than a Windows or SSD failure.
I need y’all help
