Well, this is something I've been thinking and decided to share with you.

A while ago I made a post about a bootleg from my (now) favorite show, Amsterdam, November 4th, 1979.

During my listening experience, after Setting Me Up, Mark usually would talk about their new song "Twisting By the Pool", how the crowd should react and etc.

During this talk, I noticed something peculiar. He told the crowd that they recorded the song (about a week before the show iirc).

This alone isn't a very relevant information, until I remember about the BBC Arena doc about dIRE sTRAITS.

In the middle of the doc, a video of the band playing appears, in a clubish place.

That video is clearly a dubbing. But the audio isn't the regular Twisting By The Pool we know (obviusly, early 1980), and we can clearly hear David's voice.

And this lead me to think, is that audio the 'demo', or the recording Marks mentioned during that show?

Just a thought I wanted to share with you.

I've been looking for this quite a while.

Some songs like In The Gallery and Once Upon a Time in the West have a little difference when it comes to it's sounding.

The first one is a completely mistery to me, I think they used all the pickups or the Bridge and the Neck ones together for the lead guitar.

OUTW is a bit different, I believe they used the 4th position (neck + mid), but the guitar can get some very solid gain for such a position, but I think that's because of some effects, but as I don't own and I don't know anything about pedals yet I can't really say anything.

But for In the Gallery the thing is quite different, It's sounds so pale, not warm as the bridge pickup, not cold as the neck one, not even the twangy sound kf the middle one, just pale. I can't really describe, but just try playing it and you'll see the mid + bridge pickup simply doesn't match perfectly.

I made it just using a ballpoint pen, a liquid-paper and a ruler.

É uma grande lástima não termos sequer um exemplar vivo dessas que, pelo meu conhecimento, tiveram a maior caldeira para locomotivas de bitola métrica da história.
