Why does, on non-food items, is water almost always spelled in latin, and only sometimes followed by /water/[local language water] ?

I've sometimes wondered about this but never actually searched for it

As far as i can see, this is not the case for food items but always for things you'd find in a bathroom, altho i have not searched much

I am insure if this is the right place for this question, but i am hoping for more answer than on r/nostupidquestions
