The last year I've spent practicing Ness has been pointless

When I first started playing melee a year ago I started with Young Link for a week or two, and then swapped to Ness and have mained him the entire time since. I would play Young Link on rare occasions, usually just vs my friends who were new to the game.

Lately I've been feeling unhappy with Ness, and trying out other characters. I have an alt I use to try different characters on, and whenever I play Young Link on that account I absolutely destroy people at the fairly low mmr its at. So I decided to try him on my main account, and consistently I perform better with Young Link than Ness.

I can fight the same opponent with Young Link, and then with Ness, and I'll almost always do better on Young Link. It feels frustrating that the hundreds of hours I've put into Ness mean basically nothing, since my Young Link with less than 10 hours is better.

TL;DR Young Link is an easy character to drink milk with.

Help with Improving Visuals

I love the look of the game, and even if I were stuck and forced to play in the current state, I'd still be over the moon!

The screen shot of Wigglesworth is how my game currently looks, but if possible I'd like to clean it up a bit to look like the other attached imagines. How would I go about this? I've read things about configurations and mods, but not sure which route to take. Any help is very appreciated!
