Confused about all the different differentials available

Hey E39 crew. I am buying an E39 M5 from my buddy and it needs a rear differential and driveshaft. I'm looking to order one and diffsonline has a variety of different ones. It seems like the M Variable one is the least expensive but has a life expectancy of around 50k miles. The car is not going to be tracked and I was debating on increasing the rear ratio to 3.62:1 for better acceleration.

I'd love any advice on buying/where to buy a differential and driveshaft for that matter.

The car has been meticulously maintained but the front diff bushing went out and caused all the damage over time.

Appreciate your help

Figured I'd share some of the beauties at the show, including a few BMWs. The E30 M3 was MINT

It has a new battery and will crank for a while sometimes but this started this riding season. Sometimes I'll have to do this 3 or 4 times and then it will start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Had to do quite a bit but she's back and looking great. It felt good to actually be able to drive it. I missed the sound of this so much.
