I just became a line cook about a month and a half ago

Ok, so I moved from dish to line cook not too long ago. I'm full time and my hours changed from 10-3 or 8-3 depending on stock days for dish to 10:30-7 and I love the job. But fuck does it hurt to walk or stand on my feet after sitting or laying down for a bit. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and could give me some advice. I know it's something I just have to get used to and with time I'm sure it won't be as bad/go away completely. But right now, I refuse to sit down because I have to prep myself to stand up. Like mentally preparing myself. I've experienced a lot of physical pain in my life and this has got to be by far the worst type. But other than that I love the job especially the baking and the cooking. Prepping is kind of boring lol and for context I do work a retirement home idk if that changes anything, just thought I'd share that detail in case it does.

Dish machine making a weird noise?

I hope you can hear it but it makes a squeaking kind of noise toward the end of the rinse. It's like a low octave squeaking if that makes sense. We absolutely cannot figure it out, we're gonna call ecolab at some point but I'm curious if anyone else has ever experienced this and might now? Everyone told me to figure it out considering I am the best dishie we have and I keep calling it "my dish pit", "my dish machine"

Is anyone getting this?

This just started to pop up within the last few hours. I have premium already and when I click to go to the premium button there it just takes me to my front page. Does anyone know why this is happening? Has this happened to anyone else? And what should I do?

First ever merch

Not great photos of it but I'm hyped! I got it because even though it's hotter out where I am, I ride a bike to and from work and it can be breezy in the morning and night. A hoodie is just too much for it and so is a sweater but his long sleeve is perfect! I also got it in a 5XL because I love swimming in my shirts especially if it's specifically something cozy. Also gotta shout out how nice it is that they don't upcharge you on the bigger sizes. As a 2XL size in women's clothing I have such a hard time finding places that don't upcharge just cause it's a bigger size. So excited to wear this out! Thank you Papa 🙏

I got a tattoo

Someone made a post not too long ago about their dishwasher tattoo and I was like "need" so I got one lol honestly I love being a dishwasher and I'm fucking good at it! Even my tattoo artist (who is my co worker) said that I'm the best at it at our job at least haha

I did however move recently to behind the line and don't get me wrong I love it a lot, especially baking. But my heart is in the pit. I still get to be dishie every Wednesday though which is such a good break. I bask in it on Wednesdays. I wish I could do it two days a week but we only have 3 three cooks currently so it just doesn't work out like that but I could always pick up day dish shifts.

Anyways this is my tattoo dedicated to my first love basically lol

Accidentally took it in the morning

Hi, I accidentally took Seroquel this morning and it is my night meds (300mg) i just gotta know if I should take my Wellbutrin XL (300mg) now? I am feeling very drowsy and dizzy. Feels like vertigo. Having a hard time writing this post too and I'm at work. I'm a line cook so I'm doing my best to be safe.

So I'm moving up to being on the line. I start training Wednesday night. It's a great opportunity and I'm gonna put effort into it and I'm really honored they want me behind the line. The head chef is so adorable about it too cause he's more excited than anyone else. I always give something 3 months to really see if I'm gonna like it. But it's not just nerves, of course I'm nervous it's something new. But I like being a dishie... I love being a dishie. I'm really good at it, I get space for myself, I get to listen to MY shitty music, I'm comfortable there. And I'm someone who particularly runs head first change, change is only scary if you give it that power. It's not so much that I'm scared, I just love doing what I do. And if I'm being totally honest.. I don't know if I actually want to do it. Like I said, I'll test the waters because who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with it. But also I've never cooked before in my life, it would be a nice skill to obtain tho lol plus I'm really into different perspectives.. I know how to prep and shit like that, from a previous job but that was at a grocery store. I'm just coming here to vent about it.. maybe offer up some advice if you got any?

I really freaking love dishwashing, I hope I'm able to fall in love behind the line!
