Any bilingual vagabonds out there? If so, how has it worked to your advantage? Ever got paid for translating for someone on the spot? Ever helped a stranger by using those language skills?
I know they don't seem to get a lot of love on Reddit, but Canadian North has probably been the best airline I have ever flown with. The flight attendants have been wonderful. I love the complimentary warm full meal, wine, and cookie. I've only flown with them 3 times (Ottawa --> Iqaluit, and Edmonton --> Yellowknife routes) but it's been an absolute treat.
If only the other major airlines could be as hospitable and civilized as them!

Magical place. I didn't get to see the Northern Lights, unfortunately. But I still had a lovely time.
I did briefly see a sliver of the aurora on my connecting night flight to Edmonton, though! Too bad I didn't get a picture of it then.

I am a non-Muslim, white, American woman. If I go there solo wearing a hijab or niqab, and very conservatively dressed, do you think men will leave me alone?
I keep hearing horror stories of solo female travelers getting constantly harassed in those two countries. Thanks in advance for your input.
