Should I quit before I start?

I currently work 40hrs/week full-time for a security company as a guard. I recently signed employment paperwork for an on call company paying a bit more.

I texted the guy and asked some basic questions and he came off like a real asshole. He told me the question wasn’t policy it was commonsense.

I asked if I when I claim a shift, is it locked in or can it be unclaimed/given to someone else in the event something comes up (unlikely situation but I need to know the policy as some sites do allow this). He told me I’d be fired if I pulled this, and that its not acceptable.

I also asked him to resend en email because he sent me 5 emails and all had same email title and file name. He told me I need to exhaust all my resources before making contact.

The guy is a retired LEO and strikes me as a real impatient person. Perhaps I am used to just being under the arm of a kind person and I am not used to it.

Ultimately I wanna be a LEO and don’t want this guy being a bad reference for me. Should I just bite the bullet and chance it or move on? Because if a simple question is going to have him open fire then that seems problematic; I am also open minded and maybe its me haha.

Edit: Its evident he adopted Law Enforcement type traits based in his hiring process forms and way he speaks haha. I just don’t want a leo environment for security guard pay.

Edit: He also mentioned if I mess up my time sheet like clock in and out improperly it’s time fraud and a write up.

Anyone else doing 16hr shifts?

Gonna be working 8hrs until 11pm, then working midnight to 8am at another location, for a few weeks. Any advice? It’ll be short term I just need some extra money. It’ll allow me breath a bit.

Client wants me pressing charges for trespassers (Help please)

Client demands we press charges on trespassers refusing to leave property. Cop informed me they cannot simply just be removed that we have to press charges (we being guards) on them. He said I’d be going to court and everything if the guy pled not guilty and wanted a trial.

Boss says company will pay for any court time where I’m subpoenaed as a witness.

How does that work? I show up in security guard uniform and a tie? Or I show up in civilian attire? Would you be pressing charges or just saying no to the cops? Any advice is appreciated.

Boss says if I don’t press charges again its another write up as we cannot have trespassers staying on property.

Undercover Security?

Does BSIS allow undercover security? Saw a post on Indeed advertising “Undercover Unarmed Security”. Its a strictly observe and report to their uniformed staff position.

Sounds pretty cool.

“You will be expected to patrol the casino and resort property in civilian like attire. Guards will be expected to drink water that has the appearance of alcohol like containers, as well as play and interact with our games, and monitor bathrooms. Guards will not interact with the public and report strictly to our armed uniformed department”

AC Bipolar Mode (Idea)

I think the car AC/Heat needs a bipolar mode. Ever find yourself changing from low to high frequently? Sometimes you’re cold, sometimes you’re hot.. You just can’t find a balance.

Introducing Bipolar Mode! A customizable mode that adapts from low to high and changes throughout your ride. In the customizable menu you can change the way bipolar mode operates, setting a max and a minimum, as well as timing intervals, and frequency.

I personally want this to be added ❤️.

Am I stupid for wanting hands on?

After working semi hands-on I low key rather be hands on than off. Working hands off gives me the ability to be hands off if I choose to. Whereas hands off I cannot go hands on.

Overall I feel time passes faster and being having more authority is more enjoyable than telling someone to leave then having to call 911.

Is this fine for interview?

Should this suffice for my Law Enforcement PD interview? This is my first initial interview with this specific agency. They did not specify what to bring/have, so I’ll take self initiative and assume it is business professional and these items. Please let me know your thoughts!

Black suit/pants (white shirt underneath)
Black tie, black belt (white shirt tugged in)
Black dress shoes (non shiny)
Clipboard with resume attached (two copies of resume)
Black Pen

They likely already have the resume but I figured giving it to them again won’t do any harm. Clipboard is incase they give me any paperwork (probably not).

Is there a point in carrying a taser being unarmed?

Is there much benefit carrying a taser on your Duty Belt if you’re unarmed? Currently I have Handcuffs, OC Spray (three canisters), Radio, Gloves, Key Holder, Body Cam.

Would it save you against a knife versus only having OC? Would you pursue a knife threat with just a Taser? If a staff member was being threatened with a knife would you step in with one?

I am unarmed currently working on armed. Is a Taser worth getting? Knife threats aren’t an everyday thing but definitely do happen.

Can Employer force me to stay on breaks?

Can Employer force me to stay on site for paid 30 min lunch breaks. Can they also force me to stay on the mandatory 10 minute rest breaks (two per 8hr shift).

California. I signed a contract saying I’d be getting paid for the 30min breams.

How greedy are companies?

So if a guard is being paid $21/hr, how much is the client paying? Are companies very greedy? Somewhat greedy? Or paying a fair payout compared to their revenue would you say?

Should I be ignoring these people?

I will occasionally get hit with the “You ain’t a fu** cop”, “Deputy no badge”, or just people walking past me laughing their asses off.

I’ve been ignoring it lol. Is this normal? A lot of people who just passing by you sometimes have something to say. Good habit to ignore these people and not bat an eye?

Some other guards will storm chase them off the property or insult them back. I learned in high school that children are children so I don’t waste my breath.

Tesla won’t provide loaner?

This isn’t fair. I have only owned the car 8 months and my drivers seats are making a hitch pitch sound when I move them. And now I have to not have a car for 4 days without a loaner? Ubers alone will cost me $300 and that I cannot afford.

Is there any chance to get a loaner anyway? My appointment is today in a few hours from now..

FSD randomly not working for 3 days now; neither is summon. I wiped and ensured all cameras are clean (no visible moisture or water/dust to be seen). Just got a car wash as well. The cameras from inside the Tesla appear to be perfect and clean to.

What’s going on? Will Tesla Service give me a credit for the days my FSD has been inoperable? I have a 2026 Model 3 Long Range premium.

My company employs one security guard from 5pm to 11pm. I am forced to do nightly patrols on foot that cover 1.3 miles in total distance; alone with no patrol car. At times I am 0.4 miles away from the building, in an area with no cameras, at the corner of a dark parking lot that only has one way in and out.

Company requires me to walk through public property to get to our parking lot (crossing street and going through tweaker alley).

I question for safety and wanna know if I should speak up for myself. A guard was stabbed 1 year ago, 2 years ago two people were shot and killed. Very often we have overdose fatalities/domestic violence.

I am unarmed in Californja and only being paid $20/hr full-time. I would quit however, I cannot afford to miss my rent otherwise I’ll lose my house. Unable to find a full time job that matches the pay/pays higher. Been looking daily.

Any advice? This is a very dangerous site, and the patrols alone aren’t smart nor safe in the event I am ambushed. I have had multiple death threats from people I have to kick out. Other guards have had their tires slashed, and many car breaks in as well. This company gives us nothing. Not even a work phone. We have to use our own personal phone to scan the tags.

Like I said I can’t quit I’ll be homeless if I quit. Im pay check to pay check at the moment tryna make ends meet. Any advice is appreciated. My company has stated they do not wish to employ more than one guard at night, and will not be paying for another guard. They will not get a patrol car as the client isn’t willing to pay for it and neither is the company. I was not told this information in my job interview nor told about the deaths that have happened here. I was even lied to saying I’d get benefits after 90 days + pay raise (now they told me 1 year).

I cannot afford taser permit/a taser and company won’t pay for it. I have Pepper GEL but 90% of the bums here have firearms on them.

Edit: I forgot to mention company still won’t tell me what is public/private property or where our property line is. Have no idea where to enforce policy versus where not to. It’s a public building but they require a ticket to be inside. Im not sure if we can even legally enforce that let alone trespass people. Seems PD doesn’t care about peoples rights and will just enforce it anyway but still..

When we clench I get kneed to my liver pretty hard. I always communicate that I don’t wanna clench hard but my classmates tell me “This is nothing compared to real Muay Thai”, and they sort of force me to keep going. I only do Muay Thai once a week at my BJJ gym (they offer it), they always say at the MMA gym they go way harder and that they aren’t going hard on me.

I was kneed in my knee several times after saying I don’t want the knee shots but they do it anyway. Liver shots aren’t as bad but they’re so rough.

My question is, why does everyone in Muay Thai gotta be so forceful? My job is very hands on, as a hobby I am not tryna make it hurt or have problems. I could not walk after it was so bad.

Furthermore more coach likes to P me despite saying no

My coach smokes meth/weed and always smells like it when he shows up to class. I am trying not to be a baby about it but it is starting to bother me and ruin my workouts when I have to roll with him.

My GYM is small and only has one coach, and one Owner. A lot of other people also smell like weed. Should I switch gyms? Or is this just a personal problem.
